When I was looking for a home NAS, I was particular that the NAS should be advanced as I normally connect my office NAS to my home for backup recovery. I chose the StorCenter px4-300d for the simple reason that it had improved heat dissipation. With my px4-300d I am able to access my video, photos, music and data from any PC or laptop in the house and that includes my PS3 and xBox360 as well.

This was the first NAS I have ever owned and was pretty nervous at first. Since I was no expert in networking I was wondering how I am going to manage this NAS. But to my surprise the StorCenter px4-300d network storage device was very easy to setup. Since the NAS came loaded with 12TB disks I did not have to run around to buy compatible disks. I booted the NAS and the web interface panel popped up the instructions. I did as it said and within no time I was able to see the storage pool visible to my network computers. Comments about Iomega 12TB StorCenter px4-300d Network Storage System:
The futuristic design of the Iomega StorCenter px4-300d NAS device attracted me. The silver and black box was eye catching. The front panel came with an LCD display that clearly showed information related to the storage. It is a desktop form factor and hence does not occupy much of space. The drive runs quiet and does not get hot while running. The USB ports are available on the rear panel and I have used it to connect to my pen drive and one to my network printer. I also found two gigabit Ethernet ports supporting link aggregation and port binding.
Installing the px4-300d took just a few minutes. Power the system on, run the CD and get the IP address, the rest is taken care of by the automated setup that needs less of human interruption.

When I was in search of a desktop form factor NAS system my eyes fell on Iomega StorCenter px4-300d network storage device and I immediate ordered for one. I read the reviews and hence was clear what to expect of the device. The NAS device came with 12TB, that is 4 x 3.5" hot swap SATA II hard drive disks that was configured for RAID 5 therefore I had to shed a few tbs of storage space. But keeping security of data in mind I was fine with it. The iSCSI server with two network ports was simply amazing. I was able to setup virtual environment without any assistance.
The cloud support was amazing and automatically copies files to Mozy or Amazon S3 or other Iomega devices via the internet.

The StorCenter px4-300d is the most effective NAS server I have ever seen. It is the best backup machine that is suitable for remote access as well. The greatest advantage of having a px4-300d is that it can be used as both NFS server and iSCSI target making sharing very easy. VMware is officially supported by px4. I found setting up protocols also was uncomplicated. Easy to use interface and affordable price instigated me to choose this device.
Moreover with the px4-300d your data is never at risk. The security features are all intact making it the most secure NAS server in the market for the price. The device supports 2.5 inch and 3.5 inch HDD drives.
Comments about Iomega 12TB StorCenter px4-300d Network Storage System:
The Iomega StorCenter px4-300d is the best NAS device I have ever come across. It supports both NFS server and iSCSI targets which means it is easy to share the storage space. It enables virtualization as well. The VMware official supports px4-300d to add to this it is also supported by Microsoft cluster server and hyper-v. I started to set up the NFS and it was enabled once I turned the NFS support on. Then I came to iSCSI target and it was done by clicking on the iSCSI link and enabling it.
The big advantage of enabling this is that I was able to use it as a local server. I also configured it for two-way CHAP to avoid invasion of my data.
Comments about Iomega 12TB StorCenter px4-300d Network Storage System:
With multi platform and multi technology support Iomega is a great NAS server to possess. It is a typical small office equipment that ensures high performance. The NAS server can be fitted with a maximum of four 3TB disks, meaning 12TB of space can be made available if configured in JBOD. If you want to boost performance install solid state drives.
The px4 supports a number of Network File Protocols like CIFS, Rally(Micorsoft), SMB, NFS for Linux, AFP/Bonjour for Apple. This is a diskless option and you can bring in your own drives to fit your storage needed. I decided to use the complete 12TB of storage space and hence have installed four 3TB disks in the bay.
