I shoot with a Canon 7D and 100-400 mm lens. It is heavy. I don't use a tripod, so carrying it around in the field all day was an issue. I tried other systems, including one I made myself, using a binocular harness and an added chest strap, but the Cotton Carrier is the best. It really does distribute the weight and makes it comfortable to walk around all day. The only issue is that for a woman my size (not petite, just slim, 5'5"), there is too much material in the back section, which causes it to ride up to my neck, which is uncomfortable. No matter how I adjusted it, it did this. Then I came across another woman's review of it and she had the back altered to reduce the material in the back, which enables the Cotton Carrier to sit perfectly square on the back of the shoulders. I did the same, and now it is perfect. I plan to take to Galapagos this May and be able to walk easily.

When you take pictures of birds and animals you have to be quick on the trigger. You do not know you are even wearing something. It is so easy to use. One the best extras I have bought for my camera.

I purchased this well made Canadian product for a trip to the Galapagos Islands. My camera and long lens were always at the ready, secure in the Cotton Carrier even when negotiating the lava trails and cliffs of these volcanic islands. A flick of the wrist and I was ready to shoot Sea Lions, Giant Tortoises, Darwin Finches, etc. Replacing my camera back in the carrier was just as fast, freeing my hands and alleviating the "swinging camera strap around the neck" problem. Hands free review of my last shots on the camera's LCD was a snap; I just had to look down at the camera secure on my chest. I highly recommend the Cotton Carrier for wildlife and adventure photographers.

I use the Cotton Carrier with a Canon 7D and 100-300L for hiking etc.

I have used a variety of straps and holsters over the years and have never been happy. Neck straps are uncomfortable and swing all over the place. I find holsters to be awkward and need to be sized for the lens. The Cotton Carrier keeps your gear in place and works well no matter what lens you have attached.

I am not an event photographer, and tend to shoot with just one camera and therefore did not want or need the holster attachment, but I can see how this carrier would work well with multiple cameras if you had the holster.

I highly recommend the Cotton Carrier for any shooting when you are active and need your hands free.

Well-conceived and well-built prodcut. As with any backpack or harness the trick is getting the thing adjusted right. Great for hauling my E-5 and Zuiko lenses around while hiking. It feels secure.

A simple bino harness is adequate for lighter a camera and lens combo.

One question: Cotton Carrier is the name--the carrier is certainly not made of cotton, so does that mean it is meant to carry cotton? :-)

It is great for carrying a camera. Cannot comment on its utility to carry cotton.

Bought this for day hikes and backpacking trips. It works great even with backpack on. It really helps alleviate my neck pain and makes walking on trails much easier. However I wish this comes with a smaller size. I am 5'4" and size zero. It works but I have to tight it down until the front part and back part almost stuck together. I wish it comes with a smaller version for smaller frame people like me or maybe I should get implants. :)

I use this camera vest every time I go out with my camera. It offers 100% security. You never have to worry about a swinging neck strap or dropping your camera! Watch the video it really is that secure, no worries. I have had it outdoors, at my kids football and soccer games, and just out and about. I will never use a neck again!!! It is very well put together and well thought out. No more neck strain. I really can't think of any negatives about it. I love it!

I used the vest at a recent wedding and high school senior photo shoot. It worked great for all day wear. Distributes the weight evenly. Secures the camera on your chest so that you can have hands free. Very convenient. Eliminate neck strain (just like it says). Most of all hands free at a moments notice!!

Cons: A little tricky at times to get out of the latch area, but I think I need to get used to it.

I find my Canon 7D fitted with my favourite 24-70 mm lens quite heavy after wearing it around my neck for a while and was searching for something to make it easier to carry. I am delighted with the camera vest because takes all the weight and flipping the camera on and off is very easy.
Suggestion: a small pocket for spare memory cards and batteries attached to the body of the vest would make it perfect.

I have tried all sorts of camera-carrying devices in hopes of finding something to alleviate my neck and shoulder problems. Straps and slings never help much. Belt holsters make natural arm movements while walking uncomfortable. This Cotton Carrier Camera Chest Harness does seem a better option: you can walk naturally, the camera weight is evenly distributed across shoulders and chest, and there is no awkward reaching back or slinging around to get your camera, which is always ready, right in front of you. For what it is, this vest seems over-priced, but for what it does, it may be worth it if you have neck and shoulder issues, and if you generally carry just one camera. If your camera has a zoom lens, a zoom lock is helpful.

It makes carrying a heavy canon60d with 24-70 canon lens and vertical battery grip a lot more easy. While taking in the sights and photos around P-Town on a hot humid summer day the camera didn't feel quite as heavy

This is my second Cotton Carrier (I was an early adopter). Latest version is lighter, smaller and easier to wear. I am a 'power user' - carry 2-4 cameras on this carrier. I have several big, heavy Canon lenses - 100-400 & 180 macro. I got a second holster to hold a third camera body (usually a wide-angle), and I also tether a Canon G12 - PLUS I slide my Gitzo Traveler legs into the back strap for convenient tripod use when I need it, out of the way when I don't. Cotton Carrier holds all of my cameras and lenses securely against my body so I can COMFORTABLY spend all day in the field. Did I mention I'm 5'2/115 lbs? I'm carrying some serious weight, but the Cotton Carrier balances the weight load comfortably so I don't feel weighted down-or off balance so I can easily jump over obstacles, maneuver rough trails and have every lens ready to shoot at a second's notice. Nothing swings, sticks out or is at peril, while it remains at my fingertips for instant use. As a result, I just returned from a trip to Sierra Nevada/Yosemite with thousands of great images - from wide-angle landscape to macro by switching each camera/lens from my Cotton Carrier for the appropriate shot on the spur of the moment. No need to open a backpack or switch lenses - everything is always at my fingertips. Do I sound like an ad for Cotton Carrier? Only because it really works for me! I keep it in my camera bag in the trunk of my car, ready to snap on and load with the appropriate cameras and lenses and good to go at a moment's notice. I love my Cotton Carrier!

I love this product! I have a disc issue in my neck and I easily carried a Canon 7D camera with a 28-300 lens weighing 7 pounds on a walking tour around Rome for 8 hours.

I also purchased the Universal Adapter Plate, and the Cotton Carrier Hand Strap. The hand strap is very useful and makes handling my camera much easier and more secure. And I use a tripod a lot and really don't like to be switching mounts so the Universal Adapter Plate was well worth the $ for me.

A man I work with also bought one after seeing and trying my vest. I'm 5'2" with a small frame and he is 6'2" with broad shoulders and the vest could be adjusted to fit either of us.
