The RS-4 Classic Camera Strap with FastenerR-3 from Black Rapid is a lightweight and low profile strap with a sizing adjustment located on the front for quick adjustments. The R-Strap is worn diagonally across the torso from shoulder to hip and is adjustable to fit most photographers. The locking ridges of the FastenR-3 locking ridges provide a firm connection between your camera and FastenR.
The R3 is finished in black nickel and provides a fast, easy and simple attachment system. Once connected, the camera hangs upside down, resting securely at the side or in the small of the back, with the lens pointing behind. It has a quick access, secure pocket for storing two extra memory cards in their protective cases. The strap has a pad with a mesh underside for comfort and breathability.

I cannot emphasize how much the Black Rapid RS-4 Camera Strap has made carrying my camera an effortless task. Since switching from the stock Nikon straps, I have not experienced any chafing on my neck or shoulder, nor have I experienced any back or neck pain.
Additionally with the purchase of the FastenR-T1 for Manfrotto 200PL-14 QR Plate screw, I was able to keep my tripod plate attached to my camera while still having my camera attached to the Black Rapid RS-4 strap. This allows me to quickly remove my camera from the locking carabiner and mount it onto the tripod in 10 seconds (provided my tripod is already set up).
The Black Rapid RS-4 strap is highly adjustable to suit almost any size person. I have had several of my friends test out the strap with heights range from 5'3" to 6'4" with my own height being 5'9". The strap was completely adjustable to accommodate a comfortable transport position slightly above the hips (to avoid the camera from bounding up and down on your thigh as you walk). The Black Rapid RS-4 features a clasp that will hold the extra length of strap in place to prevent it from flopping around.
The Black Rapid RS-4 also features adjustable position locks to limit the carabiners range of motion so that your camera will always be in the same place when you are carrying it. Once you learn where your camera will be located, the process of grabbing your camera and bringing it up to eye level is under 2 seconds. Only the locking carabiner will slide along the length of the strap as you perform this task allowing the strap to remain in the same position on your shoulder. This action almost eliminates the possibility that the strap will chafe your shoulder or neck over the course of a days shooting. The strap is also constructed of high quality nylon. The only downside is that it does not feature a steel cable and is therefore, prone to strap cutting. If you plan on going to areas where this may be a problem, then you may consider a different strap. Or - you can get your camera equipment insured.
Finally, I must talk about the sliding carabiner. The carabiner is constructed from hardened steel and features a screw lock to prevent the carabiner from opening unintentionally. With as little as two quick flicks of your thumb you can unscrew the screw lock enough to allow the carabiner to be opened. The carabiner also features a steel pin which allows the carabiner to swivel effortlessly. The size of the pin in comparison to the opening eliminates the chance that the swivel action will be limited due to dust, sand or debris. Lastly, the sliding bracket which is also constructed of hardened steel is completely frictionless and immune to clogging from anything but gravel.
I personally use this strap for every style of photography – from long 8 mile hikes to urban exploring, to strolls through a botanical garden. Where the Black Rapid RS-4 really shines is street photography where things are often rapidly changing and moments are fleeting.
If you have a stock camera strap that came with your camera – get this upgrade. I promise you will be glad that you did, and like me, wonder why you didn't do it earlier.

The strap part is good and the zipper pocket will hold a cf card in the case but it is not easy to get in there. After wearing this for about 8 hrs a day for two days I found that the padded part of the strap would rub against my neck and I would have to keep adjusting it. this could be because it was new and not broken in yet.
Now the bad part. The eye screw that you attach to your camera is a horrible design. It WILL come loose. I had it attached to the camera and tightened it down pretty good but not overy tight and it came loose withing an hour. So about every hour or two I had to keep tightening the screw. this gets very annoying when you are shooting for 8 hrs a day for two days straight.

Comments about BlackRapid RS-4 Camera Strap with FastenerR-3 (Black):
This is a high quality strap, if not a little expensive. I always stick to the "you get what you pay for" adage though and in this case I feel it's true. The strap itself is extremely high quality. It's very very comfortable too. When you get your camera all setup to ride just off your hip, you forget you even have it on you. This is so many light years ahead of a normal camera neck strap that I feel sorry for people who don't know what they are missing in terms of comfort. The only funny business starts when you want to switch back and forth with a tripod. Undoing the carabiner clip with the RS-1 fastener you can purchase separately gets a bit cumbersome to repeat over and over. Doable, but not streamlined. Thats ok though, for the most part you are either going to go handheld only, or tripod only (at least for me). Overall a great product though. They should have included the FastenR-T1 for the price though, or just made it the standard piece that screws into your camera.

I recently bought a Zeiss battery pack and a Zeiss strap for my camera along with this strap. I plan on doing a lot of location shooting and this will free up my hands to carry a light around for easier posing and transport of my camera and equipment. I really have not got to use it much yet but it does feel good on my shoulder and attaches very simply to the camera. I look forward to using it and having the added versatility of the strap.

This strap makes carrying a heavy DSLR/lens combo very easy, and keeps the camera at the ready. I've purchased 3 other straps before finding this. Highly recommended.

Absolutely love this strap. Nikon D7000 with MB-D11 and 55-300 is heavy! Unlike a regular strap, takes all the weight off the neck. Much easier for carrying around your camera, ready to take pictures.

Like this much better than the 'default" Nikon strap. Adjusts nicely and feels secure and comfortable. My only complaint is the price. $50+ for a strap is a little silly.

I purchased this after shooting my nephew's first birthday party. I own a Nikon D90 with battery grip, and the strap that came with it is useless. I bought a hand grip style that proved to be useless as well...I found I got tired of holding my camera the whole time, even when I wasn't photographing the scene, and I didn't want to put it down with all the kids running around. So I did some research and found this strap...I wish I could go back in time with this strap. I recently used it at the aquarium, and it just reinforced that I made the right decision...It holds extra SD cards as well.

I've been using the RS-4 for over a week now, walking around NYC and my home town, and all I can say is: This, is fantastic! It is so nice to just know that your camera can hang at the side of your hip, and not have to worry about anyone trying to grab the camera, and get away from it. the weight distribution is great, so even after walking for 4 hours, my shoulder was much more relaxed then with the original strap that came with the camera.
It is a bit annoying that it attaches to the tripod screw, or rather that it would have been nice to have multiple of the thing that attaches to the camera, so you could have one for the body, and a separate for a larger lens for example, or have multiple camera bodies, but it's not a big deal. Overall, fantastic!
Would recommend this one to anyone!

I have used the strap to carry an SLR camera in the field when you are walkiing or climbing. It holds the camera close to your body but allows you to lift and shoot.
The only drawback is that the strap is big and the normal small strap is better around the house or fitting into the case.

I recently got the RS-4 Strap and the fasteneR-T1 for my manfrotto qr plate. I love the design of the strap, it works great and is a huge improvement over a standard neck strap. There have been a couple times I wished I had gotten the sport version with a buckle under the arm when I'm having to bend down but overall it hasn't been a problem.
The only thing I would change is to make it adjustable another 6'-8" longer. This won't be a problem for the majority of people, but I am 6'5" and have a 52" chest. Even adjusted out as far as it will go the camera hangs about 3"-4" higher than would be ideal.

This strap is exactly what I was looking for. Perfect for walking around and being able to be hands free and not interfere with whats in front of me. Hanging on my hip has taken some getting used to but it's perfect.
