If you're in search of a powerful home theater foundation that offers a multitude of streaming options, compatibility with iPod, iPhone and iPad as well as exquisite audio and video processing capabilities, the Pioneer VSX-1121K 7.1-Channel 3D Ready A/V Receiver could be a good match for your needs. It offers 110 watts per channel with seven HDMI inputs (1 front) with support for 3D video from Blu-ray discs, broadcasting and video games, as well as Deep Color, x.v. Color and Audio Return Channel. So in addition to the HD Blu-ray format, this receiver is ideal for all current and future high definition sources with extensive connectivity options for legacy equipment as well.
With Marvell Qdeo video processing, the VSX-1121K can upscale from virtually any source up to 1080p for crisp, clear video displays no matter what you're watching. Of course, it supports advanced surround sound processing of Dolby and DTS formats including Dolby True HD and DTS HD Audio to give your Blu-ray disc movies a soundtrack that's realistic and lifelike. It also supports Dolby Pro Logic IIz, which adds a "height" channel for an even more immersive experience.
Since this receiver is certified to work with iPod, iPhone and iPad, Pioneer has included several features for seamless operation with your iDevices. After a download from the App Store, you can control master and per-zone volume, room calibration and more. You'll have a simple but powerful way to adjust your home theater sound however you like, from the convenience of your portable device. You can also enjoy music with iTunes album art, movies and downloaded TV shows from iTunes, photos, web content like YouTube clips and more. With AirPlay, you can stream music from your iPod, iPhone or iPad from your iTunes library -- wirelessly!
But once you've connected the VSX-1121-K to an internet connection, your home entertainment possibilities don't have to end there. This receiver lets you enjoy Sirius satellite radio (subscription required) and thousands of free internet radio stations. It's Bluetooth ready (optional adapter is required) stream content from your iPhone, Blackberry, or Android smartphone as well as other Bluetooth-enabled sources like a laptop.
The VSX-1121-K features Pioneer's exclusive Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration system (MCACC), which provides a near studio-quality, multi-channel listening experience customized specifically to your listening environment. An included microphone measures every speaker's connection, and notes its size, distance from the listening point, sound levels and timbre to calibrate and maximize performance. So, pretty much any seat will be the best seat in the house.
And there's more -- with Pioneer's Advanced Sound Retriever, your WMA, MP3 and AAC music files will sound cleaner and clearer than ever. This fills in areas where minute details were left out during the compression process.
In addition to controlling the receiver with your iPod, iPhone or iPad, you can also utilize the full color on-screen GUI along with the included preset remote to adjust and tweak your home theater sound. Clearly, the VSX-1121K allows for advanced audio and video processing while offering compatibility with portable Apple devices and providing a gateway to internet radio and more, right in your own living room -- just add a Blu-ray disc or DVD player, TV and speakers of your choice for the ultimate networked home theater system.

Comments about Pioneer VSX-1121K 7.1-Channel 3D Ready A/V Receiver:
I have a very good home network where I use both wired and wireless connections. The wired connections include my PC, Vonage and this AVR. The wireless are iPod Touch, iPad, 2 smart phones and WII. All the devices except this Pioneer AVR connect and work correctly on the network.
I am a tech-savvy guy and know how to configure the network but with this AVR, its no use. I tried enabling and disabling the DHCP on my router and configuring all devices accordingly, but this AVR JUST DOES NOT CONNECT TO THE NETWORK.
With DHCP enabled - it never connects, with disabled - with a static IP - it works for a few minutes and then goes out.
The remote is a cryptic puzzle, the more you try to use, the more you get confused. I tried to install the iPad app, and it connected to the AVR once and it was wonderful when it worked, but then as the AVR could not connect to he network this app could not connect to the AVR. I don't know whether its the app to blame or the AVR.
Try changing a network setting and to apply these settings it will take forever.
Refer to the owner's manual and it has all the obvious stuff and leaves out the stuff that anyone would actually be looking for when trouble shooting. The AVNavigator is no good, and you'll have to spend a lot of time just thinking about what does the information on the screen means.
Pioneer really needs to work on the user experience. The product may have the best of the features but is of no use to me if I cannot use it.

Comments about Pioneer VSX-1121K 7.1-Channel 3D Ready A/V Receiver:
I traded up from a Pioneer Elite 93. it was a tough call moving the the Elite series to the Pioneer series. But the 1121k has many similar features as the Elite. Having THX. Airplay and a flip down front panel. Its a clean unit. simple to setup. The clarity at high and low levels are balanced well and clear. The unit matched with my Pioneer Elite TV and DVD player. Comparably for the price its a great choice. Streaming music from my 4S and Mac Book is the ticket, both easy and fun. Walking in the house and turning it on with my iPhone is the best. some people have complianed about the blu tooth adaptor, but once the network is plugged directly in, there is no use for the blu tooth device. i paid $1,800.00 for my 93, and this unit is less than a third of the price. Twenty watts less, not noticeable, only cleaner audio. Buy this unit and there will be no regrets. Have fun with it.

I've been looking for months to find a receiver for my home theater that was powerfull, great sound quality, friendly user and with the air play function. This product has it all!!! It's big and also, it has a great look!!!
The only thing I found difficult was to set up the air play settings. The manual had not much info on it but the web did. So everything works fine!!!

Comments about Pioneer VSX-1121K 7.1-Channel 3D Ready A/V Receiver:
This receiver is twice the Onkyo 806 receiver I had! No exaggeration the mid and high tones are twice as clear and louder. I can fully hear all the sound from my movies now! I can't believe what I was missing until I bought the Pioneer 1121. The Onkyo upper tones seemed muffled compared to this receiver. Even the bass is better on the Pioneer 1121 than the Onkyo 806. As far as sound reproduction the Pioneer is head and shoulders above the Onkyo 806. Yes same speakers on both receivers and now my speakers are being put to full use. In case you want to know I'm using the Infinity Primus series speakers and sub. Runs half has hot as the Onkyo too even though the watts per speaker is very close to the same. Took off 1 star for not having at least one of either wireless network or bluetooth native support. You have to pay extra to have those features. Thats crazy! We live in a wireless society! It should come with the receiver. But ipod cable comes with reciever so you can still use ipod stuff right away.

Comments about Pioneer VSX-1121K 7.1-Channel 3D Ready A/V Receiver:
I reviewed many AVR's for my new home theater, some were much more expensive and some were less. The VSX-1121K had nearly every feature I was looking for, and then some. This receiver will allow me to expand into other areas of the house as well down the road. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars, because I would really have liked it to have a second HDMI out, like the higher level Onkyo units, however, due to all of the other outstanding features, I indeed chose it over any other Onkyo, Denon, Yamaha, Harmon Kardon, or Sony receivers. I've had the unit in use for a few weeks (with some intense use as well). I absolutely have no regrets either!
Just pay careful attention to the dimensions, as the unit is BIG.
