The FM-1 Portable Mic Preamplifier from Fostex is a compact mic preamp ideal for ENG applications. It offers a high-quality microphone preamp and powerful mic gain limiter with ultra low distortion. The mic input has a steppable gain trim with 9 steps. There is also a switchable 80/160Hz high pass filter to reduce low frequency noise. The preamp offers flexible output levels with a peak overload LED indicator so you know when signals are too hot.
The preamp has standard 3-pin XLR input and output connectors, as well as a 3.5mm stereo mini headphone jack for monitoring. The FM-1 has P48V and T12V power for use with condenser microphones. It can operate on battery or DC power for versatility and convenience. A belt clip is included for portability.
