The Lenovo ThinkPad GOBI 3000 Mobile Broadband is a wireless WAN-ready Internet option that provides a cost-effective remote access solution. Internet! Gobi allows you to access multiple wireless networks from a single device. Its built-in technology eliminates the need to buy and support several carrier-specific devices.
Gobi supports major RF bands
around the world, as well as GPS - all with a single chipset. It also features advanced RF technologies. Gobi has several interfaces, including USB 2.0, a 52-pin edge connector, an LED current sink, a primary and diversity antenna, and a U.FL coax. It is UICC compliant to GSM TS11.11, GSM 11.12 and ISO/IEC 7816-3 standards. The 3000 is compatible with the Windows XP 32/64-bit, Vista 32/64-bit, 7 32/64-bit or Linux operating systems.

The Gobi 3000 broadband card is an unlocked, 3g broadband card for the lenovo thinkpad 1838-25u (may fit other models). Installation takes only thirty minutes. The only drawback is that the card is also used in thinkpad laptops and many broadband carriers can only activate it at the higher priced laptop plan and not the tablet plan. Can be activated on any US carrier to add broadband connectivity. Card works excellent.
