Comments about Phase One Capture One Express 6 (Upgrade from Capture One 3 LE or 4/5 Basic):
I have used Capture One since the C1 LE version first came out. I've upgraded many times but when Version 6 came out Phase One didn't list an upgrade from Version 5, only C1 Express @full price so I didn't bother. Then one day while I was browsing B&H's web site I saw the version 6 upgrade and ordered one. There was some confusion because I paid for shipping but some time later I got a phone call from B&H and was told I had to download the program and the shipping charges would be refunded. As I was already using the trial sample I just had to enter the Key Code which was emailed a few days later. The trial sample was the Pro version which I really didn't like. I actually prefer the Express version to convert RAW images and polish the TIFF files in Photoshop. Version 4 of C1 was my favorite as I was able to change more default values than the later versions. I think Phase One wants to make "One Size Fits All" to cover the entire range of digital cameras and backs. One sore spot with me was when Phase One made a deal with Leica to provide free software for their Dulux camera and did not allow version 5 paying customers to process Panasonic LX-3 images(which are basically the same cameras). Although I have Photoshop CS5, Lightroom 3 and DPP, I prefer the results I get with Capture One, most of the time.
