Comments about Bower T-Mount SLR Camera Adapter for Sony NEX:
I used it on a NEX-5 body. It went right on and seemed to seat well. I then got out an old binocular dissecting microscope and a nice T-mount adapter I had for it. It went right on. Test shots are pleasing. The poor old microscope needs a serious cleaning inside.
You need to find the menu option to "Release without lens" under the setup menu. Manual focus with this really shows off the design of the NEX-5 with its ability to enlarge and constant live view, using the NEX-5 body with a microscope adapter is quite easy. The small size and weight of the body also helps.
The adapter itself is a bit heavy. I will try it next on an 800 mm mirror T-mount lens and a Celestron spotting scope I have T-mount adapter for.
For someone with some T-mount options laying about, this is cheap and revives the possible usefulness of such things. The NEX-5 complained about not knowing what kind of lens it was until I changed the "Release without lens" setting and then the camera's options allowed easy precise focus (important when you are going to get no help at all from "stopping down" when the photo is taken) and also estimating exposure.
Recommended for someone who already has T-mount stuff and a NEX-5 camera.
