The 4020 Retro EQ from McDSP is a native based 4-band EQ and filter set. The high-frequency (HF) and low-frequency (LF) bands are shelving EQ, with two additional high-mid and low-mid frequency parametric EQ bands. All EQ bands operate on a gain dependent variable Q system for a vintage smooth sound.
The HF and LF filters use a split-octave design that provides a 12dB/octave slope near the selected frequency, with a maximum slope of 24dB/octave. The plug-in uses an output stage topology designed by the company to eliminate digital clipping at any output level and produce a smoother distortion characteristic.
Version 5 of the plug-in now includes an Audio Units version for use with DAWs that support the format, including Logic, Digital Performer (DP) and Ableton Live. Additionally, a third party software application that supports the TDM, RTAS, or AudioSuite plug-in standard can also be used.
Note: iLok required if one is not already on the system.
