The Grass Valley SimulCapture Option for EDIUS v6.03 is optional software allowing multiple EDIUS clients to edit live video that is being ingested into a network shared drive. Ideal for editing live productions and creating playlists, the software helps you capture live video on one EDIUS client, and simultaneously edit it on different EDIUS clients.
Provided on a USB dongle, SimulCapture Option for EDIUS 6 does not require installation. You can simply attach the USB dongle to your computer pre-installed with EDIUS 6.03, and EDIUS will be ready to capture in ‘Simul Edit Mode.’ The computer with the SimulCapture USB dongle can capture and ingest footage in a format that can be simultaneously edited by other EDIUS clients on the same network.
Multiple EDIUS clients connected through K2 SAN or EDIUS Workgroup Storage can individually access and edit video from the same source. The SimulCapture Option for EDIUS 6 supports file formats such as MXF (MPEG-2, AVC-Intra 50/100, DVCPRO 25/50/HD, HQ/HQX) or AVI (HQ/HQX/ uncompressed/lossless/DV). It features clip markers, such as Addition, Deletion, and Comment Edit that can be added to the clip during capture/ingest. The Plug-in software provides simultaneous editing and marker information, even when the file is being read by other EDIUS clients.
The SimulCapture software has been tested on K2 SAN workflow environments, and is functional with the Grass Valley STORM 3G / STORM 3G Elite hardware. In a shared network, only one EDIUS client requires the plug-in software and the license, while other EDIUS clients on the network can access and edit the growing live footage without needing any license.
