The black/gray Discovery: Mini Photo/Tablet Daypack from Tenba is slightly smaller version of their Large Photo Backpack yet it will still hold a mountain of gear in comfort and style.
This pack is not only rated to handle a DSLR with 2-4 lenses, flash and accessories but will also carry an iPad, 11" MacBook Air or 10" tablet in a separate rear padded compartment. That's a bundle to tote around in a pack that weighs a mere 1.95 lb (0.9 kg). In addition, there is a large top storage area that is perfect for stuffing a jacket or some snacks into. The bottom area is for your camera gear that is safely tucked into their own padded pockets using the removable dividers that can be arranged to suit your style. Both the top and bottom are secured using heavy-duty self-healing zippers.
The bag is made from rugged weather-resistant nylon and can be further protected by using the included rain cover. The bottom panel is waterproof so if you have to place the bag on the ground, it will stay protected from the elements. The straps and harness are adjustable and designed for maximum comfort and aided by compression straps that help balance the pack while on your back. The top carry handle are for those moments when you just need to grab the bag quickly from your car trunk.
The sides of the pack have airline-style pull-out mesh pockets that are perfect for water bottles or other small, rapid access items. The front has a handy accessory pocket that will hold your phone, MP3 player or other small electronic device. This bag easily fits my Canon DSL camera and mounted lens (17-85 mm), separate flash and separate larger lens (EF 24-70mm). The storage area at the top of the bag is as described and could easily hold another lens or accessory. The iPad compartment is exactly the width of an ipad, so if you have any sort of bulky iPad case, you may have to remove the iPad from its case to fit in this compartment. It would easily hold any other smaller tablet or e-reader with or without a case. I love the bag for it's quality construction, ability to stand upright on its own, comfort, size and storage capacity. If you have large accessories, it may not be the bag for you, but if you have accessories similar to what I have described, it is great.
