To accommodate the demands for an affordable, lightweight, digital-ready light meter, Sekonic redesigned the popular L-308BII to produce the L-308s Flashmate. This meter offers the latest in component technology and precise calibration for accurate digital exposures. Software enhancements offer the photographer a choice of full, 1/2 or 1/3 step selectable aperture settings to display data just the way today's digital cameras do.
With 1/10th stop measurement and read out, the ultimate in accuracy and consistency is available for D-SLRs or point and shoot digital cameras. The LCD panel has also been improved for better readability. Information such as ISO, measuring modes and selected settings has been redesigned much like the very popular Sekonic L-358 FlashMaster. Tiny enough to fit in a shirt pocket, the L-308s packs a massive amount of light-reading capability in a featherweight 3.4 oz package. The L-308s handles incident or reflected measurements for ambient or flash light. Flash can be measured in cord or cordless modes. Readouts are available in f/stops and shutter speeds, employing shutter priority for convenient display of exposure permutations. This versatile meter even displays 8, 12, 16, 18, 24, 25, 30, 32, 64 and 128 fps for cinema. The L-308s runs on 1 easy-to find AA battery.

Such a simple device but such a difference in the way you shoot. No more guessing, adjusting, readjusting. This little green machine does the thinking for you so you can get on to the fun of shooting. Easy to operate. Good sized display for reading in a dim studio, and I love the color choices that make it easy to locate in my gear bag.

Comments about Sekonic L-308S Flashmate Light Meter (Light Green):
This meter is exactly what I thought it would be. Decent functionality at a great price. It feels a little light-weight, but seems solid enough, and is pretty accurate. The kooky colour is a talking point too!Service from BH Photo was excellent. Delivery was fast and well documented. I'd like to see a few slower options for international delivery as the current shipping options are very pricey.

I will use my light meter for school and business. I love that it was cheaper than the black one just because it is lime green! Haven't used it much but so far so good!! I should have no problem keeping an eye on it with its color!

Haven't tested extensively yet and you can bet(with all my reviews)the star rate is NOT permanent. So if down the road I have gripes or oohs and awes I will update this review.
Notes:
1. This guy is the smallest light meter I have ever used(Its literally smaller than an I phone but a tad thicker and HALF the weight!
2.It does ALLOT of different metering and a TON of stuff I wont get into!
Example: ISO,reflected,incident,brightness and
ambient reading! All in the lil biddy body, Wow!
I love weight and size of unit as I keep it
mostly around my neck.
3.Does feel plasticky like a toy(doesn't bother me) but ALL the buttons have a nice CLICK to them
4.It is a PLASTIC unit and if you are tuff on your equipment(I am not)then I recommend you get a silicon or neoprene cover etc, to cover it.
5.If you are on the fence about whether you EVEN need a light meter you should give this puppy a try as it WILL save you time and you gain a bit of convenience as well.
You can find it all at B N H!Thanks for reading,Mako

I just added the L-308S Flashmate light meter to my photography tool box. I have been a pro for over 35 years and in 2004 I came into the digital age of photography. I sold of my old photo equipment including my meter. I be leaved that the in camera meter would be enough to get the job done. I was wrong, I use the Flashmate to check my camera meter,I use it in all studio lighting situations. It's so quick and easy to use and it needs no maintenance.

I was a little hesitant about learning to use a handheld light meter, but this could not be easier. After about five minutes out of the box, I felt really comfortable with it. Love using it with off-camera flash to determine aperture setting.

This meter is great for both ambient and flash photography! I love that the controls are all user friendly, and pretty moron proof. The 1/3 increments, easy ISO change, and the different diffuser just for shooting items with text are brilliant.I've owned a few meters in my life, but to get all the bells and whistles in one, and it also comes in my favorite color....big win!

Comments about Sekonic L-308S Flashmate Light Meter (Light Green):
This meter works great and is very small and easy to pack. I use it with my pinhole camera as well as my TLR that has a broken meter. It does double duty as a flash meter as well as an ambient meter which is lagniappe for me.
It would be nice if it offered aperture priority but that isn't a deal killer. I just scroll to the aperture I'm interested in and read the shutter speed from that.
And, of course, the green makes it totally awesome!
