The PIXMA iP4920 Photo Inkjet Printer from Canon prints documents at a fast 12.5 pages per minute in black and 9.3 in color. The high 9600 x 2400 dpi together with the 1 pl ink drop is detailed enough to produce high quality photos that rival any print shop. Not only does the printer output high quality photos, it does it fast; it can print a 4 x 6" photo in approximately 20 seconds. To reduce the cost of printing, the iP4920 uses a 5-tank ink system so unlike the single color cartridges found in other printers, you only need to replace the color that runs out.
In addition to printing documents and photos, the iP4920 contains a CD tray which allows you to print directly on inkjet-printable CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Ray discs. Now you can create your own customized discs, no labels required. You can also use the disc print option to label discs and list their contents (such as data backup).

The new printer I received never worked right. It chewed up the left margin of the paper. It didn't make any difference which tray the paper was feed from. The printer also scored the first third of the paper. Canon is shipping me a refurbished one. Hope it work better.
Paid for a new printer and will end up with a refurbished one.

I use this for less critical photo output for my studio. The print time is very fast. When I get a chance to calibrate it I am sure I will slowly switch over.

Great price and great printer. I would have given it five stars if the ink containers held more ink.

Comments about Canon PIXMA iP4920 Photo Inkjet Printer:
Based on my needs and the reviews that I read, I purchased this printer. I got it in a timely fashion and anxiously set it up. Having worked on a photo for some time, it was ready to be printed.
I put the paper in...& nothing happened. I made sure the paper was in the right place - again & again & again & still it did not feed into the printer. I tried feeding the paper from below & it fed 2 papers at once - two times after 5 tries. Really?
The "Replacement plan"is offered because they obviously are not made well.

Comments about Canon PIXMA iP4920 Photo Inkjet Printer:
The photo prints are not that great. I give the prints a 6 out of 10 with adjustment in Picasa. Maybe it's the paper I'm using. I've only printed about 10 pictures so, maybe if I use better paper I will have a better outcome. But, for [$] it's hard to complain.

Comments about Canon PIXMA iP4920 Photo Inkjet Printer:
I purchased this printer to be able to print directly on the DVD disk surface. I was amazed to find this feature on this Canon printer for less than $100.00. Also the ink is much less expensive than I anticipated. The DVD print feature really works great with many editing options, good quality print and really fast compared to other printers I have tried. I called customer service during my set-up and they were very helpful and gracious. Great printer!

I just got the PIXMA iP4920 printer, and so far it's been doing a great job. Can't comment on reliability or ink use yet as it's too new.

Comments about Canon PIXMA iP4920 Photo Inkjet Printer:
I would have given the printer a five star rating had it not been for the small expensive ink cartridges. Actually the ink that comes with the printer costs as much as the printer.
You could compare it with a Bic pen. When the ink runs out throw it away and buy a new one. I would recommend this mostly based on initial price but certainly not operating costs.

This is a good printer. My old Canon i860 died suddenly which I used primarily for photo printing. The photos printed with this printer are very vivid. I wish the tray for the cd printing was attached to the printer so I don't have to store it seperately from the printer. The printer also has a larger footprint than the i860.

I got this primarily as a cheap way to print labels on dvds. So far it has done an amazing job. It comes with a very user friendly wizard to help you set up and print any kind of document and the quality of printing is pretty good. It sometimes take a bit of time until it's ready to print. But other then that it is an amazing product

Great budget priced printer. I Haven't used it to print CD's yet but the photo and document quality is excellent. It is a little slow printing the first photo but after that it is fine.

Comments about Canon PIXMA iP4920 Photo Inkjet Printer:
This printer is going to be used in conjunction with my other Canon Injet IP6700D. I bought this because we make our own Christmas and other cards. It uses all types of photograph paper and card stock without a hitch. The same is not true for my IP6700D. Even though the IP4920 has only three ink cartridges and the IP6799D has six cartridges there is no difference between pictures generated by either printer.

Comments about Canon PIXMA iP4920 Photo Inkjet Printer:
This Canon printer replaced a three-month old HP that ate ink faster than the New York Times and clogged the print heads more frequently a car wreck backs-up the GW bridge.
I have had this printer for about three weeks and so far have printed out about 50 copies of 4X6 photos. Everyone is highly impressed with the quality of the output - my printed photos are far better than the drug store quick prints, and closely equal to the quality I get back from professional photo labs.
Set-up and operation is a breeze. The printer's size footprint easily fits into my Rolltop desk's slide-out printer drawer.
The print quality is so good you will likely need to calibrate you monitor's colors, but some simple tweeks and that seems to not be a big issue.
Overall I highly recommend this printer.
