Comments about BenQ MX501 Multimedia Projector:
This is another projector I bought for our group. The other projector was a HD one. For the price, this has as many features as my other projector, except the wide screen capability. We use the projectors for PPT presentations, and it was more than adequate. Did not even read the instructions or watch the DVD that came with it, just took it out of the box, and the set up was complete within minutes.

Comments about BenQ MX501 Multimedia Projector:
This projector is quite good. I have it linked up to my xbox and laptop and use it for more than 6 hours atraight but it hasn't given me any trouble so far(almost 300 hundred hours). The only trouble i'm having is to hook up my xbox which is hdmi to the projector which is analog, it either doesn't accept an hd signal through component or the xbox doesnt transmit it that way. Ordered a hdmi to vga wire so will see if that works.

Comments about BenQ MX501 Multimedia Projector:
I'm using this for video projection in a small dark space, and it's been great so far.
I've yet to dig deep into the settings, but there hasn't been much need yet. A little disappointed there's no dvi or HDMI connections, and the resolution leaves something to be desired, but overall I'm very pleased.

Comments about BenQ MX501 Multimedia Projector:
I bought this projector about a month ago and I must say, It is amazing! For the price it has outstanding contrast and color. The color reproduction is better than my plasma TV. It is not bright in a high light room but you can still see it. I use it for TV, Presentations, and Reviewing videos by my company.

Comments about BenQ MX501 Multimedia Projector:
Pros:
* I just got this and have run a few movies on it. The picture quality is sharp.
* 180-Day or 500-Hour Lamp Warranty - wish this was better, but it's way better than a lot of the others, i.e. they're not willing to back their own product
* Nice design
* focus/zoom adjust is easy to use
Annoyances:
* Bulb seems to burn a little too hot for plastic, but not a problem so far.
* No DVI or HDMI input - seems cheap not to have them
* I have a throw distance of about 11' this produces a picture that's about 6' measured diagonally. When I reduce this distance in another room to 9' the picture becomes 5' diagonally
* Replacement bulbs cost around $200, I really loathe the price of project "lightbulbs" but I guess this kind of rip-off is par for the course in projector world

Comments about BenQ MX501 Multimedia Projector:
This is a great projector for the money. Very bright intro-level DLP with very few minor downsides for the average user. I use it mainly for movies and for tracing scanned images onto large surfaces. Haven't noticed any significant rainbow effect. The build quality and noise level are not the best, but perfectly acceptable for something in this price range. Performs well even with ambient light - good contrast, fair detail in the blacks. Decent menu-based control for plenty of fine tuning. Lots of lamp hours, does the job. Pretty happy with it overall.

Comments about BenQ MX501 Multimedia Projector:
I use this projector primarily as an occasoinal video projector - for big sports games, movie nights etc.
Setup was a snap, and the picture is nice bright, very clear and sharp. Colours are nicely saturated, without looking artificial, and there is good scope for customising the picture.
About the only negative I can say is that the build quality seems a little "cheap" - the focus and zoom rings don't work particularly smoothly. Also the shiny piano-black top cover is excellent for gathering fingerprints and dust.
Overall though I'm very happy with this projector - especially given it's price - and would recommend it.
