The XT flash extender does exactally what is says it does. It projects a nice beam of light out to about 100 feet. In daylight this makes for a very nice fill light on your subject. I have not tried it in lower light situations yet. It might be a little strong and harsh if used as only light source in a low light situation. The only reason I only gave it 4 stars is that it is not very compact. They do give you a pouch to hold the frensel lens in, but the unit itself is pretty bulky. Overal a very good product that does what it is intended for.
