You can find new portable hard drives being introduced into the market every other week. This adds to the confusion when it comes to buying a portable hard drive. But I was clear from the day one that my choice would be Iomega but again there were number of external hard drives that are available with Iomega that come in different capacity, weight, color, design and features. It was then I decided on the Helium 500GB portable hard drive. It is almost three months since I own this device and so far there were no issues. The USB 2.0 interface allows quick transfer of my files. Though the brick model gives a feel that it may be heavy, when I felt the device I was glad that it was so light.
What more the drive can be configured for my Macbook as well but this means I have to reformat the drive. So I decided to buy another Helium for my Macbook.

The Helium is designed to perfectly match my Mac computer. The brick model encased in an aluminum cover is sturdy and is suitable for mobile users. The drive can take any amount of beating and hence comfortable for long journey. Data security features are high in this device as it comes with 256 bit encryption that can keep your files safe from trespassers. The drive is USB driven and does not require any external power supply.
The 500GB space is where I store my photos and music folders. The design is stylish and easily slides into my pocket. What more Iomega also offers anti virus software for free to secure my files from threats. The device is absolutely safe to keep all my valuable data.

A perfect portable hard drive for my Mac desktop is the Iomega 500GB Helium with USB 2.0 connectivity. Why I call it perfect for my Mac is because it is HFS+ formatted that could be best format for any Mac computer or notebook. As the name suggests it is super portable as it weighs just 231.3 g. The 1U form factor is 2.5" SATA, the drive comes with USB interface. All I have to do is to plug to my Mac computer and the device starts instantly. I carry this device to my office everyday.
I have no constrains as far as storage is concerned as it comes with a massive 500 GB enough to backup my office work and at times even some music files.
