The Onkyo HT-S7409 Home Theater System offers a solid foundation for any home theater enthusiast in an affordable package. This versatile networking A/V receiver features HD Blu-ray compatibility as well as other disc-based games and music, and even lets you stream audio content from the Internet or your PC.
You'll find an array of connections for both legacy components and six advanced HDMI 1.4a inputs for convenience. These support 3D content, audio return channel and 4K upscaling with a video chip from Marvell Qdeo.
The HT-S7409 supports digital decoding of advanced lossless Dolby and DTS formats, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio as well as Audyssey DSX and Dolby Pro Logic IIZ to add additional dimension to your surround sound experience.
With WRAT technology, clean audio is ensured thanks to a powerful amplifier design. On the receiver's front-side, a USB input enables digital connection of flash memory devices such as iPod/iPhone, while analog A/V inputs let you hook up a camcorder or game console just like that. All of this high-performance functionality is surprisingly easy to set up and control, thanks to Audyssey room-correction and equalization, and Onkyo's interactive on-screen menus.
Commanding your new receiver is seamless with the user-friendly GUI and on-screen display so you can make adjustments easily. Housed in a sturdy chassis with a solid aluminum front, this receiver packs a sophisticated presence in any setup.

I bought this because the receiver that comes with this system (Onkyo TX-NR609) is feature packed. It also does sound great when it's working. Unfortunately, I've run into the same problems that some other reviewers have: apparently, the software is very "buggy". When I first set it up, and turned it on, I got no sound whatsoever. After trying all the other possible fixes in the troubleshooting section of the Instruction Manual, still with no luck, I "reset the receiver" (p. 69 in manual). This got it working for a while. Now it periodically loses its ability to detect the HDMI signal from my cable box, at which time I get no picture on the TV until I unplug the power cord on the receiver and then plug it back in. The remote control also has a problem retaining the code for my cable box. I have entered it several times, and it will work for a while, then for no apparent reason, it will stop working until I re-enter the code.
