I have purchased several of these drives, and they are all working well. What I like about the "Elements" drive vs. the WD "Essential" or the Go Flex is that it does not try to back-up my computer automatically. It just sits there and let's me drag files or use my favorite back-up software to move files. I use the drive for offline files, not back-up so I like to see all the file names rather than one file that needs to be restored. The Elements is perfect.

I run a small business and I needed to increase my data storage capacity from 500 GB. This unit was half the size of the WD 500GB drive I had and has twice the capacity. This external drive was recommneded by my IT consultant and I could not be happier with its performance and price.

Have used this hard drive just a couple times to back up two (USB 2.0) family laptops. So far, so good. The drive is amazingly compact, USB powered, extremely quiet and cool-running. USB 3.0 capability will come in handy when I replace daughter's machine in the near future. If the drive proves reliable, I'm a happy camper.

This is my second WD Hard Drive and I'm very satisfied with both of them.
This one has USB 3.0 and 1 TB, which is perfect for a backup device. It works flawlessly and its size and weight make it easy to carry it around.

Have two as backup drives; swap drives between office and safe deposit box. No backup software to interfere with file extensions.

This is my 3rd Western Digital hard drive, and I have had no issues with any of them. It's a brand I trust, and since this is my backup storage, that's important. The USB 3.0 is super fast. The hard drive is nice and compact. Works with Windows and Mac. No cons.

This device works very well. I think the Elements SE is of higher quality over the Essential Product line. I like that it does not have auto back up installed. The USB cable is 1.1/2.0 on one end and 3.0 on the drive connection end. 3.0 cable does not come with drive. Peripheral 3.0 USB cards are available, and the speed difference over 2.0 is amazing. Can't wait to get a peripheral card.
