Needed an "all-in-one" for the nightstand. Have been thru 2 iHome products previously. The Sony is a big step up. Why you ask? Far better acoustics than other vendors (less distortion at higher volume, better base, clear treble). Great interface (many alarm/iPhone or iPod features and options). Charges the plug-in device (iPhone for my uses). Very fuctional mini-remote is a nice feature. Good radio reception. Lastly the "form-factor" is an upgrade to previous players. Would recommend spending the few extra bucks to get a far superior piece of equipment (this Sony) than the cheaper iHome and lesser knock-offs.

I got this dock so that I could listen to my iPhone at home in my small apartment. The clock face is bright and as I am a senior that is really helpful. But the best part is the sound quality which I did not expect for this price. The fact that it came with a remote control was absolutely a bonus. For the money this is a great piece of equipment. I would recommend it to anyone.
