The Canon HJ15ex8.5BKRSE-V Portable Image Stabilized HD Lens is a 15x zoom lens designed for mobile HD (High Definition) shooting. It features a built-in optical image stabilization system based on Canon’s patented Vari-Angle Prism Image Stabilizer (VAP-IS) technology. The VAP-IS technology intercepts light ray disturbances that occur due to vibration or jolt to the lens-camera system and correct their deviations in real-time.

With real-time compensation to counter a wide range of disturbances, the lens ensures enhanced HD image stabilization. These disturbances include lens-camera jolting associated with handheld and shoulder mounting, vibrations due to an unstable platform or windblown environments, as well as the higher vibration frequencies encountered when operating on vehicles, boats, and aircrafts.

You can optimize the image stabilization action for different shooting conditions by choosing any of the four modes - Portable, Tripod, H+V and V. The Portable mode compensates for motion-related disturbances during shoulder-mounted and handheld shooting. Tripod mode compensates for disturbances caused by unstable platform or wind. In the H+V mode, the lens provides optimized stabilization action when disturbance frequencies are both horizontal and vertical. V mode compensates for vertical disturbances that may occur while panning the lens-camera.

The digital drive unit features a unique design that improves operational control, and reduces fatigue encountered during long hours of shooting. Featuring 16-bit high resolution optical Rotary Encoders, the drive unit enables easy integration into virtual digital studio systems, and provides enhanced smoothness and precision over the lens controls. In addition, the Rotary Encoders help provide a dynamic zoom speed range of 0.5 second to over a 5 minute super slow zoom, and digital functions including the Shuttle Shot, Frame Preset and Speed Preset.
