The 14" USB Mobile LCD Monitor from Toshiba is a portable LCD computer display, compatible with Windows XP, Vista, and 7 systems. The 14" LCD receives both its video signal and power via USB. It weighs only 2.8 pounds and includes a carrying case that doubles as a stand, making it a truly portable solution.
The Toshiba 14" Mobile Monitor allows business travelers and students to conduct on-the-spot presentations and share content without the need for a bulky projector or for crowding around a laptop screen. It can also be used as an additional display in extended mode for serious on-the-go multitasking. The Mobile Monitor's protective black vinyl carrying case can be quickly folded into an adjustable stand that can be set to various viewing levels and also deftly houses the monitor's included USB Y cable. Comments about Toshiba 14" USB Mobile LCD Monitor:
The leather case that this thing comes in is very nice and high quality. The screen, however, leaves quite a bit to be desired.
Sure, it's very thin (less than half an inch), light, and sleek due to its Displaylink design but the viewing angle is horrible and you get a lot of white bleeding through the top and bottom edges of the screen. It's marketed as a projector replacement/substitute for presentations but I'm not sure about that. For this price, an IPS panel would have been nice.
The is no OSD to manipulated any settings; you can only change the brightness by 1 step via the two buttons on the front.
The size is also a little odd. At 14" diagonally, it's actually shorter than most newer laptop screens. It'd be nice if it was a little bigger/taller.
As for set-up, it's pretty straight forward once you install the drivers. Just plug in the 2 USB ports into your computer and you're good to go. However, don't try plugging two of these units into an unpowered hub. But, if you have a powered hub with enough juice you can run the screen with only one USB connection.
