The 3 x 3" CC40 Green Color Compensating Wratten 2 Gel Filter from Kodak is used to control color temperature when shooting under mixed lighting conditions. It is especially useful when shooting architectural shots indoors where the photographer may be required to shoot where both window, fluorescent or tungsten light effect the shot.
Some photographic situations require specific color correction. A gel filter is used to effect minor color changes and produce a pleasing color balance. You can sandwich as many as three filters together without a noticeable loss of image quality.
It must be stated that the amount of color correction required for a given shot is most accurately measured via a color temperature meter.
Wratten 2 filters differ from the original Wratten filters in that they are more durable, easier to handle, hold their color consistency longer and are easier to clean. They are also less prone to static cling and the effects of humidity.
