The Western Digital 2TB Caviar Green Power-saving Desktop Hard Drive consumes 40% less power compared to standard desktop drives, providing optimal system performance and ensured reliability.
AF (Advanced Format) offers increased areal densities, allowing the 3.5” SATA drive to store photos, music, and videos. Defined by its Green Power technology, the 2 TB Caviar Green Power-saving Desktop Hard Drive keeps the system cool during operation, thus protecting the drive and the data from excess heat. In addition, the ultra-cool feature eliminates the need for a fan in external drives. Built-in IntelliPower technology maintains proper balance of spin speed, transfer rate, and caching algorithms, thereby offering reduced power consumption and solid performance.
IntelliSeek function calculates optimum seek speeds to minimize power consumption, noise, and vibration. Featured NoTouch Ramp Load technology ensures that the recording head never touches the disk media, providing enhanced drive protection in transit. During startup, the Caviar Green Power-saving Desktop Hard Drive consumes less current, thus allowing lower peak loads.

These drives are the best gb/$ value out there. I have bought 12 of these drives over the last year, and have had no reliability problems what so ever. I have even edited live video directly off the drives, using Final Cut and a SATA connection with no noticable problem.
