The Western Digital 1.5 TB Caviar Black Internal Hard Drive, featuring a dual processor architecture and 64 MB of cache memory, is suitable for desktops, and for multimedia, video, photo editing, and high performance gaming applications. It uses a 6 Gbps SATA interface that supports data transfer rates of up to 138 MB/s.
Featuring dual actuator technology, the hard drive uses a head positioning system with 2 actuators that improves positional accuracy over the data track. The primary actuator uses conventional electromagnetic actuator principles to offer coarse displacement. With a piezoelectric motor, the secondary actuator fine tunes the head positioning to provide enhanced accuracy. StableTrac technology secures the motor shaft at both ends to reduce system-induced vibration and stabilize platters, for accurate tracking during read and write operations.
NoTouch ramp load technology ensures that the recording head never touches the disk media, for considerably less wear to the recording head and media, and improved drive protection during transit.
