The Nexto Photo Storage ND2730 (750 GB) from Nexto DI is a handheld photo backup device for your digital camera photo files. Its built-in battery lets you backup your photos anywhere-without the use of a laptop. Whether you're on assignment or hiking in remote areas, the Nexto ND 2730 will enable you to quickly offload your memory cards-safeguarding your photos and letting you continue shooting. The ND 2730's 2 built-in slots are compatible with CF, SD, SDHC and SDXC memory cards. The device supports high data transfer speeds: Most 32 GB CF cards can be copied in less than 8.0 min, while 32 GBSD / SDHC / SDXC memory cards can be copied in about 38 min.
You can also preview photo clips as either thumbnails or single photos with the built-in 1.44" color LCD screen. The LCD also enables you to confirm the download of your photos. You can even perform a bit-by-bit verification ("Copy & Verify"), in which all of the data on the memory card is compared to the data on the ND 2730 internal hard drive.
The ND2730 comes with a 2.5" 750 GB SATA hard disk drive with 7200 rpm. With its internal battery, the ND2730 has the following power options: AC power adapter, a FireWire 800 (IEEE1394b) cable and a USB cable (all included). Comments about Nexto DI Nexto Photo Storage ND2730 (750 GB):
I have used an Epson P-4000 for years and have out grown it because the hard drive is only 80Gigabytes. The difference between the "upscale" Epson device and the Nexto is simple, transfer speeds and no frills viewing with the Nexto. My Epson has a huge display screen for viewing photos and videos but I hardly ever used it because of how slow the images/videos would load. All I want is a device to quickly transfer photos from multiple large CF/SD cards when I travel and the Nexto is great for this purpose. I am pleasantly surprised by the transfer speed. I transferred a 16gig card faster than I could have ever transferred a 4gig with my Epson.
If you want a simple device to back up your files when you travel or are in the field, I recommend the Nexto. If you want a device to view your photos (or videos, the Nexto is not the device for you. The viewing screen is very small and does not have great resolution. It is only useful to quickly visually check that your photos have successfully uploaded. Actually, there is no need to do so with the built in verify function which will compare the files transferred with those on the CF/SD card to ensure proper transfer.
The controls are clunky and could be better designed but they work fine for the my needs. There are also ugly warranty "do not open" stickers on both side of the device which really make the device look cheap. This is something easy to change by the company but it does not impact performance.
Bottom line, I am satisfied with the device and would purchase it again if I had a choice.

Comments about Nexto DI Nexto Photo Storage ND2730 (750 GB):
It seems to work flawlessly. The SSD version will probably be my next purchase for storage (as SSD gets cheaper), but this will do just fine. The case it comes with is exactly what I need, and my back-up time is cut down substantially becase I no longer have to swap cards out while offloading images.

Comments about Nexto DI Nexto Photo Storage ND2730 (750 GB):
I finally got the Nexto 2730 and I love it. I hated the Hyperdrive because it was too complicated and I never did get it to work w/o rereading the manual. Cluttered interface and too many useless (to me anyway) features. The Nexto does everything I want, is fast, is intuitive and works great. With the Nexto, I insert a CF card and push the one button. It downloads and verifies the download. It should be done by the time I get back to my lodge. I then hook it up to my laptop, quickly review the photos in Breezebrowser and drag and drop a copy of the day's photos onto a Western Digital Passport. I can go to dinner while the 2d copy is made. Previously, I was downloading my CF card through my laptop to the Passport and then repeating the process with a second Passport before formatting my card. I figure I will save 20-30 minutes a day downloading the first copy to the Nexto while on the return to my lodging. The one caveat is that I have only had it one day but I am really impressed. Hopefully it is as rugged as it looks. Please note that you may have to run Windows Update before your PC will see it--I did even on a brand new computer.
