Sony's SEL55210 55-210mm f/4.5-6.3 Lens brings the world to owners of NEX cameras in a long telephoto zoom lens. The equivalent of 82-315 mm in full-frame or 35 mm format, this lens has a versatile short-to-long telephoto range. The wide range is great for bringing your subject closer to you, no matter how far away it is. Internal focusing gives you smooth, responsive autofocus, with minimum noise--perfect for capturing video.
With a telephoto lens, image stabilization is very important to prevent camera shake--Optical SteadyShot gives you the ability to capture sharp, crisp images (still or video) even in low light or when zooming into distant subjects. Two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements help to suppress chromatic aberration color bleeding at all focal lengths, so you have excellent image quality throughout the zoom range. This is a lens that you'll want to keep handy at all times for dramatic long-range images.

This telephoto lens is an amazing addition to an even more wonderfull NEX camera. The reason that I choose this camera and lens is that I see it comfortable to take it (unlike a big and probably better SLR) to any outdoor activity event. I got wonderful pictures with this kit during rock climbing, skiing and travelling. Apparently I became a NEX-fan

I guess you get what you pay for. The 18 - 200 I am assuming is better at more than twice the price. This lense is slow in two ways. The apperture, which is advertised right on the box. I knew that would be slow. But my main complaint is the speed in which it focuses at full zoom. While photographing my son's flag football games, I ended up with lots of blury shots because it was taking so long to focus. I don't think mannually focusing is an option on a bright day since the camera has no viewfinder.

Comments about Sony SEL55210 55-210mm F4.5-6.3 Lens:
I was quite surprised how sharp this little lens is. After testing it, I haven't found any issues. It's so light that it's almost like having the 18-55 kit lens mounted. The OSS works very well which makes max zoom shots easy and sharp. It works very well as the second lens in a very lightweight travel camera kit (along with my NEX-5N and the kit lens). A very capable travel camera kit, too.

Comments about Sony SEL55210 55-210mm F4.5-6.3 Lens:
Excellent build quality. Photos best at f/9 through 13 (this is smaller than, for instance, my Canon L lenses, where f/7.1 to 8 is already super-sharp across lens). Bought to use on 5N casually when taking hikes rather than carry heavier Canon 5Dii. Been very happy with images.

Comments about Sony SEL55210 55-210mm F4.5-6.3 Lens:
I chose this lens for the cost, size, and weight. It is also an excellent compliment to the 18-55mm lens that came with my NEX-5n.
I've taken portraits at the 55mm range as well as zoom's at the 210mm range and both with excellent results. The autofocus is quick and almost flawless. I had the searching issue once or twice while it tried to focus on a low light subject. This was easily remedied by stopping the focus and re-focusing the subject. Not much of an inconvenience, but worth metioning.
Overall, I'm very pleased with this lens!

Comments about Sony SEL55210 55-210mm F4.5-6.3 Lens:
Lightweight and compact. Good zoom range, but would have accepted a heavier, physically larger lens for more speed. So far, very satisfied with image quality.

The lens i ordered for my Sony Nex-5 works great. I use this lens for taking shots the normal lens just cant pick up. No problems to report at this time as since its a Sony product, i know that it will last a long time. B&H delivered this lens quickly and considering im in Afghanistan, it arrived sooner then expected.

I purchased the Sony NEX 5 a few months ago along with an adaptor for use with my regular SLR lenses and was frustrated at the slow speed. After researching I purchased Sony lens and it is as simple as twist and shoot. As a novice photographer I am always amazed at the compliments I get. Well they have gone up ten fold with this new lens.

Nice bright zoom lens that I use with a NEX-7.
No complaints, and the weight is a nice surprise.

Comments about Sony SEL55210 55-210mm F4.5-6.3 Lens:
I got this lens when I ordered my NEX 7 kit. Perfect addition along with the 18-55 kit lens. The image quality seems better than that lens. It is also very light and QUIET. The only real drawback is it is a slow lens, but that goes with lightweight, smaller lenses that fit the NEX line in size.

Comments about Sony SEL55210 55-210mm F4.5-6.3 Lens:
The lens is sharper then expected. Stoped down to f8 it is sharp across the frame and at all focal lengths.
The stabilization works well. Focus is not fast but seems accurate.
It is an easy to carry size.

Comments about Sony SEL55210 55-210mm F4.5-6.3 Lens:
It is great lens, light weight, yet takes clear & sharp pictures. The only thing I would change is I would buy the other lens 18 to 200. I don't like changing lens back and forth.

Comments about Sony SEL55210 55-210mm F4.5-6.3 Lens:
I've used this for about a few weeks now, but it hasn't really been a prefered choice, as the range is not flexible enough and it's a bit soft, having to stop down even more, it's already a slow lens at f4.5, consider your use case first before considering this lens.

Comments about Sony SEL55210 55-210mm F4.5-6.3 Lens:
I'm a hobbyist and for the price, this is a nice piece of equipment. Best for shooting outdoors. I did a comparison test with the Sony Sal55200. The NEX lens gave a cleaner image because of the OSS. I would recommend this to all NEXers looking for a lens to expand beyond their standard len 18-55mm. It's not a Zeiss and not meant to replace a Zeiss. The quality you get for the price is perfect.

Comments about Sony SEL55210 55-210mm F4.5-6.3 Lens:
I bough this lens not expecting too much from it. However, when paired with the Nex 5n, the image quality is nothing short of stunning...rich saturated photos and tack sharp focusing. Hunts a little in low light, but at the preice you can't expect perfection.Much better than its price suggests

Comments about Sony SEL55210 55-210mm F4.5-6.3 Lens:
Great addition to my Sony NEX-5N camera set-up! Awesome lens too since it picks up where my 18-55 lens drops off. This lens gives you 55-200mm for less than half the cost of the 18-200mm lens. The 18-200 is $800 and the 55-200 is [$]. So for $450 savings I can take the 2 seconds to switch out the lenses which by the way is super easy! Love it! Used it today and would highly recommend!

Comments about Sony SEL55210 55-210mm F4.5-6.3 Lens:
I am new to the mirrorless cameras. I have several DSLRs and wanted a small camera with good image quality. I have the Sony nex5 with the 18-55mm kit lens and wanted more reach. I do alot of hiking and this lens with the camera is a blessing after lugging around a DSLR and long lens. the image quality is good when you have good light, the focus is a little slow in dim conditions, but with higher ISO this lens does all I need it to do.

I'm not an expert, just trying to take some good shots of my kids playing soccer. The lens and NEX5N exceeded my expectations in terms of picture quality.
