Nikon's COOLPIX S8200 Digital Camera puts ease-of-use and a remarkable 16.1Mp CMOS sensor at your fingertips. This marriage of simplicity and an impressive number of pixels gives you multiple options when it comes to documenting the moments of your life. From carrying the camera everywhere you go, so you're ready when the moment strikes, to capturing incredibly detailed images that are ready to be turned into mural-sized works of art, the S8200 gives you the best of both worlds.
The camera also boasts a 14x Optical Zoom-NIKKOR ED glass lens with a 25-350mm (35mm equivalent) focal range. That means you can shoot everything from close-up groups to far-off vistas, and everything in-between. The 4-Way Image Stabilization system works to eliminate camera shake for clear images with optical VR, Motion Detection, Best Shot Selector, and High ISO options. In addition, the 3.0" LCD monitor with Nikon's Clear Color display and anti-reflective coating makes for hassle-free composition and review of all your images.
Along with capturing high-res photos the S8200 also records 1080p high definition video with stereo sound. Upon playback on the big screen (AKA: your HDTV), your memories will both look and sound great. While shooting, the camera gives you the option of using a one touch record button for starting and stopping video capture, allowing you to catch the moment, instead of missing it because you're navigating through the menu.
While the S8200 might be considered a point-and-shoot it definitely offers you a number of options for putting your own mark on things. In-camera effects let you add special masks or filters to your images to evoke a certain look or feel. Smile timer automatically captures a smile, continuous shooting lets you capture up to 5 shots in a second, and Pre-Shooting enables recording of images just before the shutter is released. These, along with the other numerous shooting modes, guarantee a user-friendly yet creative way to capture the world around you.

I took this on a recent trip to Europe along with my Nikon D300 and was absolutely amazed at the quality of the pictures. The best features are the in-camera HDR/backlight capabilities and the Noise reduction landscape mode. I got some superb shots in low-light conditions that I couldn't get with my D300 without a tripod. The pictures taken with the HDR feature were fantastic. I couldn't have been more pleased with the results.
The HDR and Landscape NR features require you to stand still for about 5 to 6 seconds while the camera takes the extra shots but the vibration reduction in the camera made the shots come out as clear as a bell. I always take two cameras with me on vacation because sometimes a snapshot is all you have time to take. I use my D300 for the more serious shots especially when I have time to put my tripod up. I have the previous version of this camera - the S8000. The S8200 is light years better. I also liked the fact that I could change the ISO, the white balance and the metering.

Really like the easy focus and especially the 14x zoom. Pictures and color are sharp. Would like to try some of the portrait features.
Don't like that a booklet on features wasn't included becasue I don't have a computer at home to download instructions. I tried printing some of the pages at work but they are easier to misplace that a booklet would be. In fact, not sure where they are right now.

Love this camera. I have a Canon Rebel T1, but wanted a small point and shoot for time as I live out of the USA and wanted something smaller-not to draw attention to my equipment. I am impressed with the zoom feature and picture quality. It is great for those occasions when you want to grab a couple quick snapshots without bringing along a tripod, a bunch of lens, and the camera. It is an excellent compliment to my Ti and am very satisfied with this Nikon Coolpix.

I've taken several pictures, indoors and out, and I am very pleased with the results. I've always owned Canon point and shoot digital cameras, and this camera, my first Nikon, is wonderful.

I use this for family photos, vacation, and outdoor pictures. I like the large amount of zoom offered and the different applications that allow for a better photo to be taken. I dislike that the video option does not allow for me to pause and continue while making the video.

I'm not an expert but this camera is awesome at just about everything... even night or low light pics. It is actually able to take pics of stars. Great zoom. Very stable at 14X. Easy to use. Large enough for fat fingers and small enough to fit in a pocket. It's tuff to take a bad picture on auto mode.

This is a fantastic camera for the price! The 16 mp is a HUGE plus, resulting in snaps that are breakthaking in their clarity when enlarged. The in-camera feature are easily navigated and very powerful tools to have on a point and shoot.
If you are needing a great travel camera or just looking for a complete point and shoot, you simply cannot go wrong with this one!
