The camera also boasts a 14x Optical Zoom-NIKKOR ED glass lens with a 25-350mm (35mm equivalent) focal range. I purchased this camera to replace my Nikon S8100 that was damaged on a trip to the Keys.
For my photography business I use a Canon 60D with a 18-200mm lens, but for "fun" I like a pocket camera. This one is perfect! I get clear pictures with a super zoom. I used it at a music festival recently and the pictures were exceptional both day and night. The 14X zoom really gets in close. The S8200 also does a great job stabilizing the image.
The only thing I would change on the camera is the ability to close the flash without having to turn off the camera.

I love this camera!!! I wanted a camera that would take awesome photos and be light enough to wear around my neck while cross county skiing as well as biking and hiking. The camera is so easy to operate and with the image stabilization I was able to with one hand (while riding a bike) turn on the camera and take a clear sharp photo! Yahoo!!! the price was great! Lower than I would have paid at local stores!

I just recently bought this at the B&H superstore. So far so GREAT!!! The S8200 takes exceptional pictures, not what I was expecting from such a small camera. Makes the perfect addition to my photography gear as it can be carried just about anywhere, especially when I don't want to be bogged down by the weight of my DSLR. Love the additional features for special effects. All settings are practically crystal clear in terms of ease and quality.

The size and weight is perfect for travel and home snap shots. Easy to carry in your pocket or bag. Has all the selections you may need for different settings, day and night. If you do not want to bother selecting the setting, just let the camera do it for you under Auto or Scene Auto. I own and use the Coolpix S710 and S8100 with very similar controls, but find the S8200 superior. I enjoy the use of this camera very much. Does 85% of the photography I do with my DSLR camera, without the weight and volume, plus I can take movies and record sounds.
