The Nikon Coolpix S6200 Digital Camera (Silver) is a slick little camera that packs more lens than you'd expect from its compact frame. Featuring a 10x wide-angle zoom lens (25-250mm 35mm equivalent), the S6200 employs a 16 Mp CCD sensor to capture crisp, beautiful high-res images. The camera also lets you record 720p HD video with a single touch. View captured movies and images on the bright 2.7" LCD screen. Or using the HDMI mini connector, you can instantly play back from your S6200 to your compatible HDTV.
The S6200's Four-way Vibration Reduction (VR) image stabilization helps banish blurry pictures. Sensitivity up to 3200 ISO lets you keep shooting even when it gets dark. Subject Tracking Autofocus function lets you lock onto a moving subject to keep it in focus at all times. A Best Shot Selector mode quickly and automatically takes 10 shots in low light, and selects the sharpest image as a keeper.
The Smart Portrait System makes every person you photograph look good, by automatically capturing a smile, warning you when someone blinks in a picture, automatically correcting red-eye, and smoothing out wrinkles and blemishes on faces. A full set of in-camera effects gives your creativity free play as you adjust images for viewing during playback.
The S6200 offers 20 scene modes, including Pet Portrait, Night Landscape, Sports, Party/Indoor, Sunset, and lots more. Taking the guesswork out of the equation, a Scene Auto Selector chooses the optimal mode for your specific shooting conditions at any given moment. Encased in a slim, petite body, the S6200 packs a powerful punch for just about any shooting situation.

More bells and whistles than I really need, but a solid go-to point and shoot camera.

Comments about Nikon Coolpix S6200 Digital Camera (Silver):
My last Coolpix had an on/off switch which turned the camera on and off each time it was put in or removed from its case. This one has a recessed on/off switch which is much better. The menu and controls are very user friendly. The zoom is much more efficient and effective than my previous Coolpix.
Nice camera for a reasonable price.

Comments about Nikon Coolpix S6200 Digital Camera (Silver):
I have two Nikon D-200's and one Nikon D-300. I use these for portrait and product photography. I found it very wearing to use the larger camera for casual and spontaneous shooting. The S6200 is little and I can carry it in my pants pocket and pull it out at will. it is great for capturing the stolen and unrecognized moment. I can capture the shot and they do not look like a dear staring into the head lights. I was leaving the larger cameras at home far to often out of pure laziness.

Comments about Nikon Coolpix S6200 Digital Camera (Silver):
very intuitive design - this was a present for my wife and she was instantly comfortable to use it right out of the box - had only very limited experience with cameras up to that moment. Comfortable for one hand use. Perfect size; anything smaller would make it harder to handle. Zoom range plus the wide angle is by far the most valuable (and marketable) feature.
If the flash is not used, the battery life far exceeds the specifications.
I am of the old school which still prefers an OPTICAL viewfinder, no matter how small, even something like an open "gun-sight" that may flip open would do just great fro more experienced camera shooters - this would have saved battery even further, provide for better stability and frame control in sunny conditions. If that feature would have been provided, I would have purchased this camera for myself for double the cost. Until that day may come, however, I am still using my old coolpix 990, the best compact camera ever designed, but which was inexplicably abandoned by Nikon, just like everything else of quality seems to be these days.
Bottome line, this camera is the best size-to-feature compact digital you can find on the market today and the ease of feature control is an added bonus. There is nothing better out there in its class.

This was exactly what I was looking for in a camera. Small, point and shoot, rechargable battery, 10x zoom, 16mp! It takes great pictures and is easy to use! My perfect camera!!
