The Nikon Coolpix AW100 Waterproof Digital Camera (Blue) is an action-hungry camera that's rugged enough to take just about anything you want to throw at it – extreme cold (temperatures down to 14 °F), large bodies of water, and even accidental drops up to 5.0' (1.5 m). Featuring a 5x optical zoom lens (28-140mm 35mm equivalent), the AW100 employs a 16 MP CMOS sensor to capture beautiful images underwater, on the ski slopes, or wherever else you'd like to punish this rugged little model.
The AW100 is underwater-rated down to 33' (10 m), so you'll be able to take it sailing, snorkeling, or even scuba-diving. Meanwhile, you'll know exactly where you are and where you're headed, thanks to the AW100's built-in GPS and electronic compass functions. If that's not enough to get your bearings, simply access the built-in map on the easy-to-read 3" LCD screen.
These functions can help tell the story of the excursion that you cataloged via high-res photos and Full HD 1080p video. Even when you're not recording, the camera's GPS can log your location and record your route. This can also be displayed on the LCD of the AW100. Likewise, the electronic compass enables the recording of the camera's orientation.
The AW100 is designed to be easy to operate with one hand while the rest of your body might be otherwise occupied. HD video recording can be triggered by the press of a single button, and the camera's innovative Action Control feature allows you to set select camera functions without even pressing a button – execution is gestural. This will let you focus on the other task at hand, even if it's just keeping your gloves on.

The only problem ... getting kids/pets to sit still longer ... but that's not the camera's fault!
100% recommend!

I was debating between the DMC TS3 and this one, and decided to try the Nikon, as it was a more recent model. I took a few shots with it, and loaded them into the computer. There was a ton of noise, poor IQ, colors were blown out, and the edge sharpness was very bad. I did not feel it necessary to take a lot of shots, so the sample size of the test is small, but based on experience, this was not acceptable. I returned it and got the Panasonic, and all is good with it. It is very possible that I got a lemon, but I did not want to take a chance on a second one.

Comments about Nikon Coolpix AW100 Waterproof Digital Camera (Blue):
This is a great little camera. Color and contrast of pictures is great. You won't get the quality of pictures you will get with a 7D with L series lens, but you will get excellent pictures for a point and shoot camera. The big reason for this camera is its environmental seals and ability to take abuse. I use this camera with my job and never have to worry about water, dust, or small spills. The big thing that sets this camera apart from others is the GPS function in the camera. I use this camera at work. Having the gps coordinates of the picture I have taken has proves invaluable. If you want a strong camera with great features, this may be the camera for you.

Comments about Nikon Coolpix AW100 Waterproof Digital Camera (Blue):
We have several cameras Nikon 70, D300, Panasonic/Leica and Cannon D10. I prefer SLRs, however for traveling SLRs are little bulky. My wife does a lot of hiking mostly in Europe and AW100 was our choice between waterproof /outdoor cameras. Cannon D10 which I'm using daily in work/as a tunneling contractor,in abundance of dust and up to 85% of humidity. This camera is bulkier, heavier and does not have build in GPS, maps, internal memory, 180 and 360 degree photo options.
AW1001 is light, easy to use and my wife love it. Excellent travel camera.

Love the size and lightweight aspects of the camera...especially considering the full functionality of it. Crisp pictures and a HUGE screen make this 5-star. Can't wait to use it at the beach soon.

I bought this camera for my family's upcoming vacation to Hawaii. I have used SLR/DSLR mostly. I wish I had a better autofocus under low light yet this is fairly good in digital point & shoot sector. Overall I like Nikon optics & waterproof feature!

I bought this camera for one of my grandchildren. She loves it and can't wait to use it under water.
The camera package arrived fast and just as I ordered it.This is not the first time I have bought products from B&H, and plan to continue using the company for other purchases in the future.

I purchased this camera as a second point and shoot, waterproof, pocket camera to take on my travels along with my Canon 5DMk11. There are times when a camera like this is all I need and is so much easier to put in a pocket and go. Results are looking good so far. Looking forward to capturing shots in places where I normally leave my camera behind.

I have used this indoors, outdoors, in the pool (yes, thats the best part), soon to be at the beach, used in bike riding and moore. Its so automatic even a noob like me can use it with ease. The GPS is cool too since my better half likes to keep track of where we have been. I recommend this camera!

Comments about Nikon Coolpix AW100 Waterproof Digital Camera (Blue):
I bought this camera mostly for my wife to use while on vacation but also for family functions as I got tired of lugging out my DSLR every time. I have all Nikon professional gear and was happy to see that Nikon had come out with a rugged/waterproof camera.
This camera is easy to use - even for a novice and has a big and bright screen. There are some cool features like GPS and motion detection which I haven't used much but seem pretty easy to understand and use. Battery life (with GPS turned OFF) is perfectly fine though it's annoying the charger is big and cumbersome just like the one for my DSLR.
The lock on the side of the camera is smart and inspires confidence in knowing that it's properly sealed. I have yet to use this underwater though I plan to for snorkeling. I do like that it's a rugged camera and there are no external moving parts that can break or jam - which has happend to me on all previously owned P&S cameras.
I do wish that Nikon supplied a secondary strap for use underwater - but a rubber band will suffice. I also really like the size of this camera which is shorter and only marginally thicker than my iphone (with it's rugged case).
One last bonus is that the camera comes with a plastic filter holder which can be outfitted with something like a red filter that will aid in making underwater shots look natural instead of washed out blue

Comments about Nikon Coolpix AW100 Waterproof Digital Camera (Blue):
I use this camera as an lightweight, rugged, outdoor camera which it excels at. The resolution is very excellent, the GPS and compass features are my favorite. It is water resistant, and very tough considering how light it is. The GPS and compass feature seem to run the battery down quite a bit faster, but they can be turned off. I am not a pro, I just wanted a simple, high quality, rugged camera.

I liked the dimensions and feel, good pocket size. The reference manual and "quick start" literature are not clear on how to access various options especially the GPS. The photos are sharp and bright. It takes a bit of work to get to "know" this camera. I think it will be great once all the facets are mastered.

I don't want to drag my DSLR around with me the whole time so bought this to keep with me to capture those great moments. It's rugged, waterproof and has a surprisingly handy macro feature. All around I'm very happy with the buy. Only complaint is a slow burst mode.

We are very pleased with our purchase. The camera takes good pics and the full 1080 video is a plus. We haven't yet taken in uderwater but hope to do so soon. The price is right. Shutter speed is faster than our previous camera. Large LCD display. Overall we would buy it again.

The product is new to me and I haven't fully explored the functions yet or taken it underwater. On land, however, the photos are clear and bright. The focusing is very good about 95% of the time. I'm really looking forward to shooting some underwater video later this spring. I love the compactness of the camera as I was looking for something that I could just easily throw in a purse or backpack. The price seemed fair for all of its features.

So far we've used it for snorkeling photos as well as close-up bird photos and are very happy with the results. GPS picked signal up quickly and is an added bonus. Macro is not as great as some previous cameras we've used, but the big LCD screen makes it easy to review photos under water. Now all we need is a case so we can take it scuba diving.

Purchased the camera to take on cycling/ kayaking adventure trips. I have not yet had the opportunity to use it in that capacity yet but the past week I carried it around the Super Bowl village. It has worked great in the low light and have some very crisp concert photos. The 3200 iso was excellent with not too much noise. The footprint is the same size as an iphone so it will be easy to carry. So far so good
