Yamaha YAS-101 Front Surround Soundbar Speaker System (Black)
The YAS-101 Front Surround Soundbar Speaker System (Black) from Yamaha provides high-quality surround sound in a slim and low-profile design. The unit can be used with or without the included stand, allowing you to position it in front of your television on a TV stand, or hang the soundbar on a wall. The curved front area and glossy piano black finish provide an elegant and stylish look that fits in with any decor and matches a variety of televisions.
The soundbar has a pair of 3" subwoofers and a pair of 2.5" full-range drivers that use large magnets and voice coils to provide excellent dynamics and clarity. A digital amp provides 120W of output power for a strong performance, while a large bass-reflex port works with the high-volume cabinet to increase bass response and clarity. The port is shaped like a trumpet bell to reduce compression, wind noise, and distortion. The speaker grille has a saran net structure to allow unimpeded sound flow for clear listening. You can use the subwoofer output jack to connect an external subwoofer for extra bass if desired.
The YAS-101 has Yamaha's exclusive AIR SURROUND XTREME technology to reproduce 7.1-channel surround sound with excellent quality, imaging, and presence. The result is a realistic sound field with clear dialogue in the front and rich effects at the sides and rear. The unit supports popular surround sound formats such as Dolby and DTS digital surround to provide you with the full effect of multichannel sound.
A Clear Voice feature raises the volume level of dialogue and narrations while maintaining overall sound quality. This provides better clarity and speech intelligibility. The speaker's UniVolume feature maintains a consistent volume level between different channels, shows, commercials, and input sources so you can avoid sudden spikes or drops in volume. An audio delay control adjusts the timing of the picture and dialogue to ensure perfect lip sync.
The speaker comes with a simple wireless remote control for convenience. The speaker also offers a "learning" function that allows it to be operated from your TV remote to reduce clutter. The YAS-101 even has an IR flasher on the rear, so if the speaker is placed in front of the TV and is blocking its IR receiver, functionality will not be affected.

I purchased this item for the kid's game room, what a great buy… My son plays war games and you really can hear the difference… After doing some research, this is the best sounds you'll going to receive for the price point… My buddy purchased Polk and I really did not care for the sound… You'll be very happy with this sound bar if you buy…
It comes with a remote, I just wish I had a universal remote to control it all...
By the way, I purchased the Yamaha YAS-101 from B&H, NO Shipping or TAX cost… The service was awesome...

Excelent purchase. A very good sound system for a small place. The medium and high sounds very clear and good sub.If you like a very deep sound you need to reinforce your system with a subwoofer. I'am from Brazil, this is 110 volts and needs a transformer to work here.

this is a good unit and I have the audio coming out from my direct tv box. If i have it coming out of the TV there is issues with audio delay. There is a correction for it, but it seems to vary. good unit though

I bought this speaker to replace my 15+ year old surround sound system consisting of a Denon receiver, Boston Acoustic bookshelf speakers and a Boston Acoustics center channel. I could not run wires to the rear speakers in our new house so I did not really have any surround sound. I mounted the speaker to the wall just below the TV. I am using it with a paradigm subwoofer from my old system. Overall, I am very happy with the sound but I don't think it would sound as good without the sub. I think the YAS-101 and my old subwoofer sounds as good if not a little better then the old system, it takes much less room, and it looks great! It does not compare to a full blown system but it is more than acceptable sounding and a lot cheaper.

Voices are very clear. I have to use my big sub to get the sound the way I like it when the sound in the program isn't very good. If the program that you are listing to has good sound the built in sub is fine. Being able to turn the sub up and down from the control is great. I could program the speaker to recognize the volume control but the speaker wouldn't turn off and on with the TV remote.

I was lucky enough to get one of the first ones of this product. I hooked it up right away and it was pretty nice, I live in a small apartment where running wires isn't possible, so this is the next and greatest solution, my next thing on the list is an external sub, because this one doesn't really do much sub wise.. The surround sound works, and you get sounds that bounce off the walls, smaller the room seems like the better it works. I recommend this to anyone not looking for a huge surround system set, and with a budget. can't beat the price.
