The VS228H-P 21.5" LED-Backlit Widescreen Computer Display from ASUS is a desktop computer monitor with a 16:9 aspect ratio and energy-efficient LED backlight. The display features a slim profile and a sturdy stand.
Because the display has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080, it can display content in Full High Definition 1080p. This display also boasts an amazing 50,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 250cd/m² brightness rating, 5ms response time, support for 16.7 million colors, and 170°/160° viewing angles. It can connect to a computer via VGA, DVI-D, or HDMI.*

For the price this display seems pretty reasonable. I did not have much to compare it too since I bought on line. Once out of the box and connected, I had some problems with getting the desktop to appear on the display. My computer recognized this as a second monitor and I could not open the control panel to reset. Turned out that the HDTV was connected through HDMI and, even though turned off, selected the HDTV as the primary display. Not the monitor's fault, just the operator :)
Once resolved, spent a lot of time trying to calibrate and adjust color and brightness. The default color settings in the monitor were overwhelmingly vivid and the brightness unbearable. I fussed with brightness, color saturation and contrast and finally got to an acceptable picture. Seems like it should not have taken so much effort. Built in modes Only other criticism is that the monitor is pretty wobbly.
This monitor has a headphone jack, but no way to get audio in except through HDMI (my best guess, I haven't tried it yet).

I am using this monitor via an hdmi cable connected to my mac mini. The image is great, but the stand is insufficient to support the monitor. The least bit of vibration (say from typing on the keyboard) causes the monitor to shake from side to side. I would not suggest purchasing this monitor unless you plan to use it with a VESA mount or until Asus decides to upgrade the stand.

This isn't just a great monitor for the price, it is just a plain amazing monitor. I purchased the 23" for gaming and Blu-Ray movies and it made 2 of my friends purchase this 21.5" for themselves. The colors are bright and vivid and the darks and blacks are deep and dark. I was playing Kingdoms of Amalur on this monitor and, while the graphics aren't that great (the games fault not the monitor) it is a very bright and colorful game. The bright yellows, blues and greens right next to the shadows and the black tunnels did not bleed over at all. The response time, and contrast ratio are the best I've seen on any 1080p monitor. If you are looking for a deal, this is it.

Absolutely awesome display for it's price. I was looking for something less than $150 and found this which had free shipping as well. I got the package in 2 days!
I plugged it into the wall and my laptop, turned it on and it worked! No drivers or any other software necessary. It has worked flawlessly and is an absolutely gorgeous display. The only drawback is it has to be calibrated color wise because the colors are just a tad off.
Definitely worth it's cost and a no brainer for someone looking for another display.

Great monitor, the picture is beautiful! Great warranty, great price, nothing more can be expected. The only downsize I did notice is that the monitor is a little wobbly, but that's really no big deal at all. It's wobbly because of the way it adjusts I think. Very pleased with the picture quality and controls on this Asus monitor. Easy to navigate menu and buttons hidden on the bottom. A very nice sleek & clean looking monitor.
