The Velbon UT 43D 6-Section Aluminum Travel Tripod with Ball Head features a remarkable ratio of maximum height (61.6") to folded length (11.6"), making it an excellent choice for backpackers and other travelers who need a lightweight & compact yet highly functional camera support.
That ratio is a result of several factors: the two-section center column, the six sections of the aluminum legs, the fact that each leg section disappears completely inside of the one above, and the 180° folding of the legs, by which the feet line up perfectly with the top of the included QHD-53D ball head. Together the head and the UT 43D tripod weigh just 2.6 lb.

Comments about Velbon UT 43D 6-Section Aluminum Travel Tripod with Ball Head:
When traveling by air, weight matters whether checked or carry on; at least to me. This travel tripod weighs a couple of pounds and fold to under a foot utalizing a pretty cool mechanism.
Took a bit to learn how to extend legs and to retract,

Comments about Velbon UT 43D 6-Section Aluminum Travel Tripod with Ball Head:
While my Manfrotto XPro was a beautiful tripod, it spent most of its time in a closet because it was to long folded and too heavy. This UT43D is just about perfect in size and weight for travel and day hikes. No closet time for this one. More than I wanted to spend, but well worth it.

Comments about Velbon UT 43D 6-Section Aluminum Travel Tripod with Ball Head:
I need as light a weight tripod as possible, yet still sturdy and capable of adjustments from very low to a comfortable height for me to stand at. This one fits the bill in every way. It also folds up to a size that is perfect to fit in a daypack or small carryon suitcase. I looked at a lot of others and this one is by far the most suitable for my travel needs.

Comments about Velbon UT 43D 6-Section Aluminum Travel Tripod with Ball Head:
Its suprisingly stable. When loosening the legs, it seems flimsy, but once you tighten everything, its becomes nice and stable. I use it with my Panasonic G3. I was looking for the tallest/smallest tripod and this is what i found. I wanted something i could put inside of a standard backpack since i don't like to announce to everyone around me that i'm a photographer.

Comments about Velbon UT 43D 6-Section Aluminum Travel Tripod with Ball Head:
It's lightweight, tiny, easy to setup and take down. Adjustable height for all kinds of situations. Very sturdy - no flex. That's using a Sony a65 with a Tamron 18-270pzd.
Twist lock legs work very smoothly.
Haven't found anything I don't like.
