International orders*The GearGuard Basic Kit from Gary Fong offers you peace of mind when you need a secure way to tether your bag to either a fixed point or just want to keep someone from popping open your quick-release buckle and reaching into the bag. The system is clever in design because it provides you with a way to completely cover the front quick-release buckles on your camera bag thereby stopping any prospective thief from opening your bag and grabbing a camera body or lens.
The Body Lock comes with two plates. The initial plate goes into the camera's tripod socket with its 1/4-20 screw. The second half of the plate slides into the first and has an opening through which the steel cable and lock can be threaded and firmly attached to any fixed point. The first plate has been designed to attach to a standard tripod and does not need to be removed to use your tripod - only the second plate needs removal.
The kit comes with two bag locks. Each lock comes apart and the two halves interlock together over the buckle to form a complete cover preventing any access to it. Then, each half has a small hole at the top through which you can put the included TSA (Transportation Security Administration) approved 3-digit combination lock. Once this is done, there is no access to the quick-release buckle until you remove the combination lock and bag locks.
For added protection, the kit comes with a 36.0" (91.4 cm) steel cable that can also fit through the small holes at the top of the bag locks. The cable may then be threaded through any fixed point such as a table, fence, car seat or anything heavy that would prevent a thief from taking the bag.
