I bought this hoping it would be an easy way to make blu ray on Mac. So far its just been an exercise in frustration. For starters, the drive wont fit in a Mac Pro unless you take off the front plate. Its too big. Taking off the front plate is not hard but disconcerting. After that there is the issue that Mac Pro has problems recognizing the drive. If you computer goes to sleep youll have to shut it down and then restart it to get Mac Pro to recognize the drive (simple restart doesnt work).
Toast is not without its problems either. Lots of problems with rendering movement. So far no usable discs. Don't expect to get any useful help from Toast either, they seem to just have memorized a list of answers.
The rendering of motion problems are not restricted to blu ray discs but are very evident on standard dvds. Files that looked great using Toast 7 have serious motion problems on Toast 11. There may be a fix that Ill figure out in a few more months. But with Toast 7 it worked better than Compressor straight out of the box. I personally don't have time to figure out Pioneer's and Toast's problems. For now I've gone back to my old version of toast. Looks like I have another expensive doorstop.
