The Joby GorillaPod SLR-Zoom Flexible Mini-Tripod with Ball Head - Black/Red is an ultra-versatile mini-tripod or grip that can be used with large SLR cameras with zoom lens attached, or even with camcorders (its load capacity is 6.3 lb). Its three multi-segmented flexible legs can be formed to grip almost any protrusion, be it a branch, doorknob, rock, or uneven surface.
Each of the GorillaPod SLR-Zoom's leg joints can bend and rotate 360°, to wrap around objects. The bottom rubber segment on the legs is larger to allow the tripod to be used in the traditional way.
The included ball head attaches via the standard 1/4"-20 screw at the top of the tripod, and it tilts 90° and pans a full 360° smoothly. The included quick-release clip features a bubble level, which allows you to even out your frame quickly & accurately – a welcome feature when you're using a camera support that can be set up in such wild positions.

Comments about Joby GorillaPod SLR-Zoom Flexible Mini-Tripod with Ball Head - Black/Red:
I got this to support my Canon EOS 7D with 70-200mm zoom lens and so far has lived up to my expectations. The ballhead is strong and locks solidly in position, supporting the camera gear in any position.

Love the product, but the ball head metal attachment easily falls and get lost when you unscrew it from the pod.

Comments about Joby GorillaPod SLR-Zoom Flexible Mini-Tripod with Ball Head - Black/Red:
I picked this up to use with my 30D and Sigma 10-22. The tripod will hold the camera if the legs are mostly straight, but if you try to spread them out the whole thing very slowly sinks down untill the legs are way out. I weighted the tripod with the camera and lens on it and the whole rig was only 3.5 lbs. I am a bit dissapointed in its weight carrying ability. Besides that its a good product. The ball head is pretty nice, has its own level. I now use it to hold slave flashes.

Comments about Joby GorillaPod SLR-Zoom Flexible Mini-Tripod with Ball Head - Black/Red:
My main concern w/ this was the issue of weight. I have a Canon 60D and even with my heaviest lens (18-135mm) the stand works perfectly. If it gets unbalanced with the weight, the legs are so easy to move, and yet so sturdy, that it can handle the weight just fine.

Comments about Joby GorillaPod SLR-Zoom Flexible Mini-Tripod with Ball Head - Black/Red:
I mount my Tascam on the ballhead and then wrap the legs of the Joby around the top of the main tripod under the DSLR. I can then turn the Tascam to face me in a split second with the ballhead. I use an external mic on the DSLR hotshoe. The strength of the Joby makes this a very secure setup for me. Fantastic product for one man bands like me. Also use in place of tape often to hold something in place, a bit like a clamp, man those legs stay in place.
