The Pavilion dm1-4010us 11.6" Notebook Computer (Charcoal) from Hewlett Packard combines performance and portability into one compact laptop. I have only used it one week and it is perfect... But I had almost the exact same model 1 year ago and the letters on the keys started to wear off in less then 3 months. I will see if it is the same with this.

I plan to use this computer for med school, so I won't be writing long papers, etc. It is really light, and it has all the programs I need. I sacrificed a DVD drive in exchange for a light laptop, although this is the one feature I do wish it had. It's also not super fast, which I was kind of expecting, but if you're impatient, this may not be the computer for you. Bottom-line, it's a very basic computer, that you're likely to take with you everywhere, because it's so light!

A very nice performance for a computer between notebook-netbook.
I bought this notebook in order to get an up to date hardware with portable features. This computer has quite good features, it run smoothly, and seems solid constructed. I haven't tried out with demanding aplications such design apps or games, but for regular operations seems to be more than fine. HD videos run perfectly.
It's not as light and small as a regular netbook but is portable and light enough not to bother on your backpack. A little thick though.
Keyboard is fine, but it lacks of the reference to the alt key combination wich makes you relay on your memory (and not even that, because there are a lot of keyboards layouts). Another feature It could be improved is the cover. It's really nice and looks fine, but it gets oiled fingerprints very easily. Even when you wash your hands thirty times a day like me.
Screen is fair enough. Very good definition makes easy to see a web page or document, wich is not the case in the standard netbook 10,1 screens. The backlight is a little dim though.
Sound is really good. Specially for a so small computer. Don't expect to use it for a party, but you cannot expect that for any notebook of this size, and maybe for any notebook at all.
So the overall opinion is a very good performance for an affordable and portable computer that lies just between netbook and notebook.

This computer was pretty much exactly what I was looking for. It's small and easily portable without being so small as to be difficult to use. It's also as powerful as my MUCH larger notebook so I was able to relace it as opposed to using the pavilion as a supplement computer. The only this I wish it had is a CD drive but that's what you get when you go smaller. Overall, a very nice little computer for a fairly decent price.

Everything is right about this mini notebook.AMD E450 is a great chip. I hardly feel any heat or hear fan noise. BeatAudio is incredible sound system. Keyboard feel just right. Battery last over six hours easily. I have not used more than six hrs yet. If you are looking for fast laptop in 11.6" screen group I think this HP is the one. BH is still my favourite place to buy.
