The SoundLink Wireless Mobile Speaker (Dark Gray Cover and Black Finish) offers the terrific style and sound quality that Bose is famous for, and now allows you to enjoy your music wirelessly via Bluetooth. You can pair any Bluetooth device, such as a smartphone, MP3 player, tablet, or laptop and enjoy tunes from your library or streaming services from up to 30' away. Connecting your device is easy; simply press the Bluetooth button on the top of the SoundLink and then select it on your Bluetooth music player. The SoundLink can remember up to 6 different Bluetooth sources for convenient use.
The SoundLink has unique, proprietary speaker technology to provide top-quality audio with extended bass. Instead of heavy woofers or large ports, the SoundLink uses slim speakers and specialized dual-opposing passive radiators to handle low frequencies in a compact design. In fact, the SoundLink is small enough to fit into a day bag or backpack so you can bring in anywhere. The built-in dark gray nylon cover protects the speaker during travel and flips open to become a convenient stand. When the cover is closed, it automatically turns off the SoundLink. Additional covers in a variety of colors are available separately so you can customize the speaker to your liking.
The speaker has convenient controls for power and volume built-in. All other control is provided by your music source, so no remote control is needed. A 3.5mm aux input allows you to connect and enjoy non-Bluetooth devices, such as portable CD or DVD players. We purchased this speaker to take with us on vacation. It's a great size to toss in your carry on luggage and sounds great, even in open spaces. However, the bass is especially booming when you have a wall behind the speaker. It is extremely simple to link up to a bluetooth device, only takes seconds. The power life lasted several hours at a decent volume,however,we did not have it full blast since we did not want to bother our fellow travelers in the room next door. It does say that at full level of volume, a charge will typically last 3 hours. I have absolutely no complaints about the speaker thus far. My parents have now purchased the same speaker this past weekend. They aren't as tech savvy but were able to connect with the auxiliary component. Once they had my assistance, they were well on their way to enjoying wireless connectivity.

I use these speakers in my classroom for dance, watching educational videos and listening to books online. The best part is that they are wireless and you can use them with a Bluetooth capable phone or tablet. I wih the flap to open them was more compact, so that they would fit in one hand without anything sticking out from the body. My kiddos love them. Awesome for both fun and educational purposes.

Aside from heaviness, it's the best travel speaker of all time.
Paired w iPad easily and if you really want it all, get two!
Battery life is great, and the bass coming from this thing is exceptional. Unusual how much bass and midrange. Really awesome speaker.
FYI, the leather case that comes with it is fine. Dark tan, good.

My wife is a fitness instructor, so I bought this so she can wirelessly play her iPhone tunes from anywhere in the gym. No more lugging around a boom box with those wimpy iPhone jacks. This Bose box is LOUD, has good sound quality, and doesn't need an outlet ... perfect for a portable music application. Nice looking too.

This is a great little speaker that produces the big sound you expect from Bose. There are a few draw backs though that may end up making me return my unit:1. The speaker only plays when the cover is folded open (the cover acts as a stand when it is open, similar to an ipad cover). This is fine when you set the speaker up on a flat surface, but is really inconvenient if you want to lie the speaker flat or put it in a position other than sitting flat on a table. For example, to put in a bike basket while going on a bike ride, or strapping to a backpack for some outdoor activity. For the ultimate portable speaker, I would expect to be able to easily position the speaker in any position. I used to have a $50 speaker that had this basic functionality and thus this is a huge deal breaker for me.2. The price. I have tried similar speakers in the $50-$100 range, and while the Bose produces better sound, I'm not sure that it is 3-6 times better than those speakers at a price of [$]. Especially with the flaw I mentioned in #1.

After frist seeing the speaker in a magazine dedicated to Apple products, I did some subsequent research. Found rather few cons, mostly all pros. One can't expect the sound to be comparable to something the size of a book shelf speaker, but amazing it certainly comes close. For my purpose/use, the compact size was desirable.
