The VAIO F23 VPCF234FX/B 16.4" Notebook Computer (Black) from Sony is a notebook computer built to be the ultimate portable multimedia machine. It features a large 16.4" LED-backlit display, which has a Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. An HDMI port makes it easy to connect to an HDTV or another external HDMI-compliant display. For sound during games or movies, this notebook boasts Intel High Definition Audio with S-FORCE Front Surround 3D and Home Theater Technology v4. The end result is amazing sound quality during games or movies. Along with these highlights, the notebook also comes with Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum, ACID Music Studio 8.0, and Sound Forge Audio Studio 10.0, so that you can create movies or music from the get-go.
The computer is powered by a quad-core 2.2GHz Intel Core i7-2670QM processor. When greater performance is needed, the CPU can operate at a top speed of 3.1GHz via Intel's Turbo Boost Technology. To compliment the CPU's speed, this notebook handles all your visual media related needs with a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M graphics card. This graphics cards also relies upon 1GB of dedicated RAM, so that the notebook can handle more demanding games or graphics applications without overtaxing the system's RAM.
Beyond the GPU and CPU, this notebook comes loaded with 6GB of DDR3 RAM, a 640GB 7200rpm SATA hard drive, and a Blu-ray Player that can also burn CDs or DVDs. Top notch build quality. Feels like it could take a beating. I contemplated buying a Macbook Pro however with the same specs that would have cost me twice as much! The screen is beautiful and the resolution is above most other laptops in the price range. My only gripe is that the sound isn't as good as it could be however its no slouch either.

I use this laptop for business and pleasure. It has a very fast processor and very nice display. I attached a large monitor and wireless mouse and keyboard to it, they work great. One problem (solved): the camera stopped working after less than a week. I called Sony's customer service, they took control of the laptop and fixed the problem (uninstalled and re-installed the USB devices). I love this laptop and hope to keep it for a long time. My son has a similar one (in college) and loves it too.
