Comments about Western Digital 1TB My Passport USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive for Mac:
I like it so far - great compact size, little to no sound when on, and I use it mainly for movies and songs. I have both Mac and PC, but when I plugged it into PC, it wouldnt show up. That's when I called WD and they guided me through how to make it PC compatible (FAT format)... I didn't like how the box didn't come with instructions on how to set this up. It hasn't given me any problems so far (its been about 2 weeks).. will update if I do encounter any

Comments about Western Digital 1TB My Passport USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive for Mac:
I have few external 2.5" hard drives, but this one is the best. It's look and design is superb and the price is fair. It is not USB3 but it doesn't matter since my MacBook Pro is not USB3 compatible (so are other Macs), so why pay the extra money for something I do not need. Also I bought this hard drive to my Time Machine backups, so I don't need the fire-wire (extra money) hard drive.

The drive is pretty fast, and mounts and ejects quickly. I use it to store graphics and video projects, and I can work off the drive pretty easily in most cases, so there's usually no need to move files back and forth.

Using the 1 TB Passport as an external disk drive for a Mac Air's Time Machine software. Plug and play. Very small footprint. Requires no external power source if plugged straight into USB port, but I elected to use a powered USB hub, since other USB devices as sharing the same UBS port as the Passport from the Mac Air.

Comments about Western Digital 1TB My Passport USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive for Mac:
I bought this hard drive to use with Time Machine on my Mac. I literally just plugged it in, then the computer asked me if I wanted to use it as my Time Machine backup and I clicked yes. Presto. Done. Didn't install any software, it's just plug and play. (I had to buy a new external drive because I got a new computer and the old backup drive would be completely overwritten if I used it for Time Machine. This one is about 1/20 the size of the old. Since I work upstairs in my bedroom at night sometimes, it's nice to have an external drive that is completely portable. This way I tend to plug it in for a backup more often instead of waiting until I am downstairs again.) I actually bought an extra one for a different computer.

Compact, fast, and silent. Works flawlessly with Time Machine (Apple's backup mechanism) and with the Mac. The WD "Nomad" case is highly recommended as well - padded and protected against dust and moisture.

Drive is compact and aesthetically pleasing! I use it daily for Time Machine backups and it works quite well, as it should. I could see some people being bummed that the USB 2.0 cable is a bit short, but it's not really a problem for my setup.
