Comments about Western Digital 500GB My Passport Studio Portable Hard Drive for Mac:
I purchased 2 Passport Studio's, one to hold work and one for back-up. The Firewire 800 is very fast. Product design is excellent-looks like a fat/large iPhone 4. Love that they are powered by the FW cables with no need for clunky power cables. only downside to that I not being able to turn them off. They seem to stay on even when Mac is powered down. Definitely happy with the purchase.

Comments about Western Digital 500GB My Passport Studio Portable Hard Drive for Mac:
I have a 500GB version which has been replaced under warranty once and is temperamental on whether to show up on desktop or to be recognized any where (just won't mount, have tried various computer and cable) It also is unreliable in writing large files (often freezes) Has not had much use because of this. The size and style are its only good points. I wouldn't buy another.

Comments about Western Digital 500GB My Passport Studio Portable Hard Drive for Mac:
I was amazed at how easy it was to plug this into the back of my Mac and set it up to work with Time Machine. Now I feel safe and secure that my data is safe and accessible should I have any future problems. This is my 3rd Western Digital portable hard drive -- the other two are still in use with the two PCs in our household.

Comments about Western Digital 500GB My Passport Studio Portable Hard Drive for Mac:
It's external metal casing makes it rugged, and it looks great with my MacBook Pro and iMac. I'm a video editor so I use it to transport footage from person to person. So being in and aluminum enclosure makes me feel safe when it's being moved around a lot. Plus having firewire 800 makes it fast and with the additional usb port means anybody can transfer or copy footage, so I don't have to worry about compatibility issues.

As a photographer, backing up my images is essential.
I have 4 external hard drives attached to my MacBook
Pro. This particular HD has been dedicated to our
trips to the Middle East.
Easy as it gets to install and use.
