An Improvement in every way over the Previously owned Canon MX850, the Print Head broke about 5 months ago, after some 2.5 years of use, Canon was sufficient for us as a family printer, however it was really heavy on the use of INK!!! This I hear is not an issue here with the HP 8600Printer is FAST, printout quality of Text Excellent, as well as the photo quality...(its not a photo printer, but it has not been designed as such)Just wanted to defuse two things that I READ about the printer in the Reviews Here or around the internet:- When you hook up the printer via a HARD WIRED connection (cable) the printer still is available to print via your WiFi network at home from all your iPhone / iPad Devices... and it works Beautifully!!!! (someone mentioned that you have to set the printer to wireless configuration (not wired) in order to print this : NOT TRUE! printer works as I would like it!- Scanning in Multiple pages to a PDF (Simplex or Duplex does not matter) creates a single Multiplage PDF - so there is no problem. I love the fact that you can NAME THE FILE right from the touchpad, so that you know what it is when it finishes up in your Network Scan Folder. There are many ways to approach Scanning with this printer. So far I have not found any Limitations! (I though i would have problems with this feature: NOT TRUE! All is great- Printer is super Fast!!!! And Quiet as well. Love the touchpad. no issues with "having to touch it more" than than your ipad/iphone interface. The UI is great and is very intuitive. Love the fact that the printer sleeps w/o any sounds at all, and wakes up very very quickly!Love the APPS! Developers please create more APPS activities for Children, I don't see myself printing or "subscribing" to the weather and news every morning, but its an option, on the other hand the crossword puzzles, and kid activities are really great!Keep in mind that Premium version of the printer is actually a good deal if you plan to print on envelopes and need an extra tray (or use a letter head) Premium Version has extra Color Cartridges (Magenta/Blue/Yellow) but not black, still its a good deal if you plan to buy a cartridge within the next year. so far he BLACK is really BLACK, and after some 100 pages, all cartridges are still showing as FULL!The Extra Paper Tray raises the printer up higher and actually makes it more usable for 6 foot humans, also keep in mind that The Duplex-er Unit sticks out from the back, but its not an issue on a 24 inch table.Google cloud print, and HP ePrint are very useful and work well, there are tons of options to explore and integrate with your box.net dropbox, google docs, etc etc..Very Satisfied with the printer!!!!Hope this review helps you with your purchase! as these two/three issues above kept me from buying this printer 4 months ago!

Having just recently purchased the printer, I haven't used it extensively. I can say however that the drivers for WinXP are very poor. The printer fails to reliably connect on a hard-wired network connection. The scan-to-computer function finds the Vista box, but not XP. Who knows what else I will find as I use it more.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard Officejet Pro 8600 Premium e-All-In-One:
I use the product at home. Set at high quality, text looks great. Photos are very good. I especially like having two paper drawers. I've tried a few of the advanced features and they work fine (e.g., once you set up an email address at hp, you can send an email to that address...the printer will print out attachments to that email). The LCD screen is nice; and you can preview and print photos from memory cards. There are some nice (but unnecessary) touches: the end of the paper try rises to keeep paper from falling on the floor: and it's damped as if it were in a luxury car. The printer has a series of apps that you can use without the computer.. this might come in handy if your computer crashes.
While it's not particular noisy, it's not silent either. There's a lot of clicking plus the usual whir from the inject. I don't mind it, but some might. Once the clicking is done, printing is fast.
This printer is BIG for a home office (look at the dimensions and make sure it can fit your space). The swoopy design makes it look a bit like Darth Vader, which, I'm embarrassed to admit, freaked me out for a day or two :)

I love being able to scan up to 50 double pages directly to my google drive right from the printer. This printer has allows me to print directly from my iPad and iPhone. I find the 500 sheet paper capacity mixed with the ability to print to print duplex extremely useful. I actually purchased this printer soley for the purpose of using e-print. I was amazed that the printer has so many more outstanding features that I was unaware of. This printer is a real value and the best printer for any home office or small business, or workgroup. I have OSX Lion, IOS 5.1.1, Windows XP, Windows 7, and Linux Mint 12 machines all working with this printer. I can't praise it enough!

I purchased this printer mostly based on my experience with the Office Jet Pro 8500A Plus I purchased a year ago for my office. It's been a great machine with no problems. It's been a year so I did do some research online and decided that since the 8500 had worked so well for me and the reviews on this newer model looked good so I purchased this Office Jet Pro 8600 Premium for the sales office, I also replaced an ancient printer at my house with an 8600.
This isn't my first order with B&H, They have quality products, great pricing and service.

The printer is fine. But I have to note the first one I recieved was defective. The printer cartridge did not move, so the setup (2 days after delivery) failed. I called, but HP customer support was useless, and really did not help at all. B&H understood the problem. I bought a new one (same printer 8600) from B&H and got it. It appears fine.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard Officejet Pro 8600 Premium e-All-In-One:
Good all-in-one at a great price at $254. I've had several printers of this type by various companies and this is the best one I've used. The only negative comment I would make is that the scanner can occasionally have issues with slightly rotating scanned images off from the vertical position (no more than 2-3 degrees off from vertical). For general scanning this is okay, but I do have another scanner in my office for scanning formal company documents like financials statements into .pdf for distribution. I havce never had it cut-off part of an image from scanning. The color printing is a great plus for charts and graphs. Ink life is good and relatively inexpensive. Have used it on occasion to print photos on photo paper and quality is good. Not as good a a true photo printer but for those the cost of the ink is much higher and you have more than the three color ink cartridges that this model has. For office and normal home use this printer is more than sufficient. Footprint can be a little large depending on your desk space available. If you are sharing a desk with your monitor/keyboard it may be tight, but if you have an extra table or an L shaped desk then the size of this printer will be of little concern. I liked it so much I purchased a second for at home. E-print option is great too. With the second printer at home if I am at work and want to print something for at home I send it to my home printer and it is there for me when I get home, and vice versa for working from home I can printer to my office printer from any device, PC/Mac/Ipad.

Been using the printer for about a month now. No complaints at all. Set up was extrememly simple. AirPrint worked right away as did HPePrint.
The double sided printing poses a minor problem as it always addresses both sides of the paper even if there is nothing to print on the back.

This is exactly the printer I was looking for. I use the printer at home, but I copy, print 2 sided documents, and fax more than the standard home user. This printer does a great job with everything I have asked it to do. I can also print directly to it from my iPad. The only thing it has not been able to do is print on card stock. I'm not sure if it would print on a thinner card stock or if it just doesn't do card stock at all. Other than that, we have been totally pleased with our new printer!

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard Officejet Pro 8600 Premium e-All-In-One:
I first bought a Brother wireless laser printer and only had it working one night after work, but by the next day it wouldn't and despite the best efforts of my IT expert, we could not get it to work even with the recommended USB cable route to wireless setup. My IT expert said he'd just bought the HP 8600 Premium and after a few setup adjustments it worked flawlessly. I returned the Brother and looked at the HP All-in-one. It found all the local wireless networks, and could attache itself in a straightforward manner. I was sold. We have two wireless networks, with one as backup. You have to be connected to the network that the printer was setup to use, and cannot have both options available without setting it up separately, which is unfortunate, but in the meantime we have the 8600 printer on the fiberoptic network hooked to laptops and the other network HP printer, attached by cable to my desktop computer on the network, and all other desktop computers printing to it.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard Officejet Pro 8600 Premium e-All-In-One:
I use this for personal and home-office printing. It is replacing a great Samsung CLP-610ND color laser which did not have the All-In-One features, and cost an arm and a leg to replenish with toner.
Immediate Impressions after First Contact:
Gorgeous design! This unit is very easy on the eyes. I work in the graphic design field and these people knew what they were doing.
Setup was easy and very slick. You start off following prompts on the printer, then move to the computer last. The printer then seeks out its own Updates. Sweet!
Scanner works great. I have not yet experienced the "super large" files a few people have commented about.
Two Observations that are NOT Deal-Killers:
The appeal of the Premium model is that you get a "full set of inks" in addition to the starter set. And the second paper tray. However, that "full set" is missing the black cartridge. They only give you the CMY inks. And none are the XL size. So order a full set now.
Secondly, the Power Cord could be a bit longer. But it's possibly a standard length.
