I use this light for filming wedding receptions with a XHA1. It is a very bright blue light and has a fairly nice even pattern that reaches 40 to 50 feet. The maximum setting is too bright for receptions, but at 40 to 50% it works great. For several years, I used the Bescor MX-600 tungsten light which has a natural inside color. To get this color, you need more than the 3200 filter that comes with the LED-180. I am using a orange gel taped over the 3200 filter and it is a very close match.

The brightness is good, but it really needs more control on the brightness. Shining it directly on a user is painful in a low light situation, until their eyes adjust. More control would allow a gradual acclimatization.
Brightness is good, but not high enough to use with an umbrella kit. So you're stuck in an odd situation.. too bright for direct light, but not bright enough to be diffused by an umbrella :) will have to find some happy medium.
Base slips easily. You can tighten with a screw driver (why not with your hand??) and even tightened with a screwdriver it often slips if at an angle (say on a light stand).
Really portable (light) and battery life is great.
Results look good.
haha might make a great bike light ;-)

I use this to film skateboard at night and it's perfect ! provide lot of light and last long. Built quality is poor but it gets the job done and at that price we don't expect much. Comes with 2 filters it's great. I also use it as a fill light it's super effective.

Use for video on camera and or specialty background shots i.e: to illuminate a bookcase or throw a splash of light. It's inexpensive so if it breaks or gets lost, it's disposible. It's way too daylight, You need another 1/2 CTO to bring it down, and for an on-camera light you want it closer to tungsten as you would normally use it indoors in a tungsten situation. You want a light like this to fill faces for run-and-gun shots and for a face you want it to be soft and warm, so add 1/2-3/4 CTO and some Opal to soften it up a bit.

Comments about Bescor 180 W AA Powered On Camera LED Light:
I haven't had too much experience with on-camera lighting, but this unit has performed well so far. Eight batteries seem like a lot, but once outfitted with rechargeable batteries and a couple 4-hour chargers, I've gotten into a nice workflow with it. Camera show adapter is a little flimsy, so I trade out the mount with a more sturdy adapter from an old on camera mic mount.

I was looking for a lamp that gave me good light and not expensive. This one is perfect. The control to dim is great. But you will need to get some aditional gel cover because the leds will make the recording look blue. My HDR FX7 white balance controls it very good. But I added an additional gel cover to make it look more natural.

Comments about Bescor 180 W AA Powered On Camera LED Light:
I like older Bescor portable lights, made from metal, fill sturdy. So I give a try to this light, however have cheap plastic fill. First front diffuser brackets small, can be easy break, it should be easy fix by making them wider. But biggest problem with plastic shoe and join above. it's holding in place fine when no batteries inside, when you put 8 AA, it's become heavy, and need more tight screw ( this required Philips screwdriver in your bag) . Batteries holder also use not practical locks. Lights working fine. Over all from dimmer regulator to casing fill very cheap and does not design for heaver use or accidental drop.

I'm using the on camera light for filming in a dark club environment. Makes my shots much clearer, my only issue is that the light is almost too bright!

For the price this is a good purchase. I also bought a 'tripod' head to attach between this and my camera body, in order to rotate the light.

I have to stop myself from selling ALL my other lights after using this one. I used it for a long wedding reception and it's still bright! Use the dimmer for close work and turn it off when not in use to save power. Incredibly wide swath of light - a little blue but white balance corrects it.

Comments about Bescor 180 W AA Powered On Camera LED Light:
Bescor has been my choice repeatedly because of lower cost than the competition, but I felt the 70w unit I had wasn't enough illumination. This 180w gem does the job - and keeps on going for hours as long as you turn it off when not in use. Dimmer helps. No heat problems. Color temp is a tad blue but camera white balance takes care of that.
