Comments about Lenovo IdeaPad U400 09932-9U 14" Notebook Computer (Graphite Gray):
Given the pricing of personal computers nowadays, the Lenovo IdeaPad U400 is nothing short of an excellently priced higher-end laptop. With the comfortable 14" size alongside a reasonable keyboard and sleek design, the U400 definitely impresses upon unboxing.
However, although this laptop is an excellent option for either personal or business use, its flaws make themselves more than subtle during the first few uses of the system. Firstly, the key spacing on the keyboard is less than optimal for consumers used to +15" laptops/PCs, as essential keys have been downsized and squished to properly fit the frame. Likewise, unlike its competitors, the U400 doesn't boast side-speakers, leaving the sound quality a bit tinny, but not intolerably so.
On to the display/media capabilities of the laptop: this laptop boasts some pretty high specifications to the ordinary consumer, but the graphical quality is very obviously sub-par and color is either dim or noticeably dull. The frustration behind the display was exacerbated further when attempting to move videos and photos over to it via SD card. Much to my surprise, there was no SD card slot, a definite disappointment for photo/video enthusiasts looking for convenient ways of transporting their files. Considering some particularly old PCs had SD card slots long before they became a media standard, Lenovo really dropped the ball there.
As far as processing capabilities/speed/durability, this computer is saved by competitive pricing alongside good performance. The speeds noticed weren't overwhelmingly fast or annoyingly slow, but there have been no issues on that front. Likewise, the PC is very clearly sturdy against its light weight, which is a major plus for any serious commuters or workers on the go. Also, after extended periods of use, the PC had no heating issues or loud sounds resonating, which is a definite positive in an industry of high-heat loud competitors.
This PC is great for anyone looking to manage their files, stay on the move, and not sacrifice the productivity capabilities of a larger PC. With graphics, media ports, and sound quality lacking, it doesn't do the best job of portraying itself as an all-around PC, but isn't terribly deficient in any given category. A great idea for a student or tech amateur, but beyond that its performance runs the race of the top PCs from 4 years ago.

Comments about Lenovo IdeaPad U400 09932-9U 14" Notebook Computer (Graphite Gray):
I bought the Lenovo U400 for its looks and specifications that appeared comparable with other laptops in its class.
The price was OK and the general look and performance of the laptop is good.
It also works OK ( though I had to return the first one because of a failed WiFi card)
The biggest sore points are the attention to detail and design. There are too many sharp edges
1. In order to get the Book look, they have created the edges that run aroundthe LCD Lid and the base and it gets already chipped quickly. Mine had chips when I received it.
2. The side where the base hinges to the LCD screen Lid has many sharp corners and gaps. My child almost got her fingers cut when she tried opening the laptop by placing fingers in that corner.
The biggest irritant on this laptop is however its Trackpad. It has a tough time in differentiating an unintended touch and an actual trackpad motion. Hence while you are typing in text, part of your hand may touch edges of the pad and this causes the focus to jump to another part of the text box. I have tried reducing the response of the pad with limited success
