The Nikon FT1 Mount Adapter allows you to use certain Nikkkor F-mount lenses (designed for Nikon SLR and DSLR cameras) on the new Nikon 1 V1 camera. In order to use this adapter, the V1 camera's firmware must be updated to at least version 1.10. Lenses will produce an angle of view equivalent to 2.7x the view when used with a SLR or DSLR camera (an F-mount 50mm lens, for instance, will provide an angle of view on the V1 equivalent to a 135mm lens on an SLR or DSLR camera).
When a VR (Vibration Reduction) lens is used, VR functions can be used. Autofocusing is possible when using AF-S lenses, but focus mode must be set to AF-S (Single AF) and AF-area mode is fixed at Single-point, using only the center focus point. AF/AE supported with AF-S lenses only. When using CPU lenses, [P], [S], [A], and [M] exposure modes can be used, while only [A] and [M] exposure modes can be used with non-CPU lenses. The aperture is set using the aperture ring on the lens.
Shooting in Motion Snapshot mode is only possible when focus has been acquired with an AF-S lens. The Smart Photo Selector function cannot be used. As of December, 2011, the FT1 Adapter is compatible with 65 existing F-mount Nikkor lenses.

Comments about Nikon FT1 Mount Adapter:
Great product, Made in Japan. Makes my Nikkor 200mm f2.0 become 540mm f2.0
Works as advertised, with FX and DX lenses.
One drawback. You are limited to one focus point in the center of the frame, so you have to recompose as in the "old days"

Comments about Nikon FT1 Mount Adapter:
Get the FT-1 adaptor and you suddenly have a wide range of lenses to use (G lenses give you AF, D lenses don't) with a 2.7 crop factor. That gives me excellent reach on my 70-300 ((189-810 equivalent!) The photos to me made the adaptor look sort of clunky but the actual item is small, fits well on the body and has its own tripod attachment. Try it with a 50mm, outstanding bokeh and turns the 50 into a great portrait lens (135 equivalent).

Comments about Nikon FT1 Mount Adapter:
I've tried this adaptor on numerous lenses including the f4 12-24DX, f1.4 24, f2.8 14-24, f2.8 17-35, f2.8 28-70 and f2.8 70-200. Also a few Sigma lenses inluding the f1.8 20. Apart from the Sigma the adaptor worked wonders. If shooting video you should use full manual for white, exposure and ISO, otherwise you may get iris noise. When you mount a new lens onto this adapter it goes through a little routine testing the positioned lens, showing that there is more going on than a simple connection. Of course the ideal situation would be if Nikon would make a body with the adapter included, i.e. a tiny interchangable lens electronic shuttered full frame body.
Would be fantastic if it included audio in and out too.
There are many lenses that it will not auto focus, including the F2.8 10.5 fisheye.

Comments about Nikon FT1 Mount Adapter:
This item works great for using nikon AF-S lens on the Nikon 1 series cameras. The only thing keeping it from a 5 star rating is the limitations on only allowing one central focus point.

Comments about Nikon FT1 Mount Adapter:
Any reasonably sesoned Nikon user has amassed lots of lenses. The ability to use them all on one convenient camera body is important.
Any Nikon 1 owner who does not own this adapter does not know what he's missing.
Yes, it also works very well.

Comments about Nikon FT1 Mount Adapter:
The Nikon 1 Series provides a small capable camera that can be paired with extremely small lenses (10, 10-30 and 30-110) that provide excellent optical performance in a package that's extremely small and lightweight. For those times when size and weight are not as critical as other factors, this handy piece of gear provides access to all those "F" lenses in the world.
I bought the J1 as a gift for my wife (with 10, 10-30 and 30-110 lenses) since it's got sufficient IQ and speed for her photographic needs, but is small and light enough that she'll carry it along. The FT-1 was bought primarily for her to use with the new 50/1.8G that sees little time on my D7000 (75mm is an awkward focal length for me). On the J1 the 50 becomes a 135/1.8 and has proven to be an excellent portrait lens and useful "fast-tele" for her, while still being relatively light weight and ergonomic.
The FT-1 works just as advertised and is very solid and well crafted. The only rub is that the Nikon 1 firmware did not originally support the FT-1 and had to be updated, which took about an hour of time reading the instructions, doing the download and swapping cards, etc. Well worth it.
Now I just have to keep my wife away from my 300/4 AF-S and the new 85/1.8G when it arrives.
