The 250GB Rugged Safe SSD Hard Drive from LaCie is a complete mobile storage solution. The Rugged Safe SSD offers multiple levels of data protection, from its unbreakable hardware encryption and the safest biometric authentication technology, to its shock-proof enclosure. Its rubber sleeve and internal rubber bumpers make your hard disk shock-resistant and its aluminum shell protects against scratches.

The Rugged Safe SSD version offers more durability and improved transfer speeds, as well as a wider operating temperature range.
The Rugged Safe SSD protects your data even if it falls off your desk while turned on. With no moving parts, SSDs feature excellent protection against vibration and drops, giving you the ultimate in physical security.
SSDs also deliver significant gains in seek time, letting you access and transfer files faster than with hard drives.
The Rugged Safe secures your data with Advanced Encryption Standard 128-bit hardware encryption, rendering the drive impenetrable even if it is removed from its enclosure. With this technology you can transfer and transport your sensitive data with no concerns for unauthorized access or intellectual property theft.
With added biometric authentication technology, it guarantees total protection for your highly confidential files. The protection is way more than just a password; the fingerprint access is an unbreakable code to make your data invulnerable. Once registered, a simple finger swipe locks and unlocks the Rugged Safe. Up to ten different users can be registered, with customized access privileges such as user administration or simple read/write access.
The Rugged Safe is cross-platform, which lets it work on any Mac or PC. Pre-formatted in FAT 32, it offers the speed of FireWire 800 along with the convenient FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 interfaces for true universal connectivity. The Rugged Safe is bus-powered and plug & play: simply configure it once and use it on any workstation.
