I am using it as my editing hard drive with my Mac Book Pro and it works perfectly. There was no long set up or configuration. It comes with a bump guard protector. It is sleek and stylish as well.

Comments about Iomega 500GB eGo Portable Hard Drive, Mac Edition (Black):
I purchased this portable external hard drive to backup my MacBook Pro laptop. I wanted something that would slip into my pocket and was light weight. While this hard drive will not slip into my pocket it is just barely misses in size. It does fit easily into my briefcase and is considerably smaller and lighter than my two LaCie 500 GB desktop external hard drives and my OWC 500 GB hard drive. It is configured for Lion. The sleek black design is very classy looking and the rubber case that provides better grip and drop protection is a nice bonus. This hard drive has both an 800 and USB 2 port connections and was plug and play right out of the box. I used Time Machine to back up my laptop which took about 3 hours. Worked flawlessly and quickly. I was impressed with the 800 Firewire speed. The only drawback is it does not have a Thunderbolt port for the next generation MacBook Pro I will purchase in the near future. Far and away the best external portable hard drive of the four drives I have. I have become an Iomega fan.

Looks good. And good at reading video files.
The construction seems to be good and I particularly like the anti-shock rubber.

Comments about Iomega 500GB eGo Portable Hard Drive, Mac Edition (Black):
I like the semi-hard plastic cover that comes with it; it makes it a little bigger so that it doesn't fit in a shirt pocket, but it feels much more secure with it. It is very attractive and almost looks like a iPhone with the smooth glass front. I just wish it were a little smaller, but overall I'm pleased.

I'm using my ego external hard drive with my iMac. I just basically plugged it in and it's been working great ever since, no problems at all. So far, there hasn't been anything that I don't like about it. It does a complete back up of my hard drive without me doing anything.

Comments about Iomega 500GB eGo Portable Hard Drive, Mac Edition (Black):
I carry all my sound effect and music files to work everyday. I needed something small and easy to carry that has enough speed to transfer files to the AVID or to download files sent by our music editors. This Ego looks great and hopefully it will last as long as other Iomega drives. The only downside is the drive has a glossy surface which looks great but easily picks up fingerprints and smudges. You'll spend a lot of time wiping it down unless you like that grungy look!! Definitely recommended!!
