I needed this break down different mics without having to constantly screwing and unscrewing them. It's much easier to push the pin and and slide the mic right off when moving them around.
I called Atlas to see if they sold the outer sliding adapter separately. They do but you need to buy 100 of them in one lot.

I love the idea of this. It's always a pain to unscrew a mic or boom stand every time you need to make a change in your setup. I purchased on not realizing that without at least one other quick release mount I can't do much with it. When i received it and separated it I half expected that both sections would be threaded, the mount that remains attached to your stand is just a smooth stub. If it were threaded you could attach another mic or boom. Thus you need one for every item you intend to attach to really get the ease out of the purpose. That could get rather expensive. Great idea but not ideal.
