Comments about Buffalo MiniStation Extreme 1 TB Portable USB 3.0 Hard Drive (Black):
I use the Buffalo external HD to backup edited scanned slides; I have too many to put onto DVDs.The unit appears well built. I've been using it since the beginning of April and had no problems yet. Connection/installation was straight forward. In order to get the greatest throughput you need USB3.0 capability; I installed a PCIe card to that end. Why did I choose the Buffalo product? From all the external HD research I did the Buffalo product had the fewest negative reviews; this usually equated to lowest failure rate. Its warranty is 3yrs; the other big names are two or less. I found it good value.
