The LaCie 1TB Little Big Disk with Thunderbolt is a stellar, compact device, great for storing your multimedia files and taking them with you. This Little Big Disk features a total capacity of 1TB and relies upon two built-in drives formatted in a RAID 0 to give you extra speed.
For connecting to your computer, the Little Big Disk boasts two dual Thunderbolt ports. Each Thunderbolt port can transfer data and video at the same time and each features a theoretical transfer rate of 10Gbps. In practice with these ports and the built-in RAID 0 configured drives, this Little Big Disk can read data at a rate of 180MB/s and write data at a rate of 180MB/s.
With two ports, you can daisy-chain this Little Big Disk to other Little Big Disks or to up to six other Thunderbolt-compatible devices. Daisy-chaining multiple Little Big Disks can also increase your transfer speeds. With the swift read and write speeds and the easy-to-carry size, the Little Big Disk makes for the perfect way to travel with your video, photo, music or data files. It is compatible with Mac computers.

I disconnected it 90 seconds after installing. VERY loud. Nasty. I wanted to use it with a Mac mini SSD for audio so quiet is especially important to me. However, I would find this unit annoyingly loud even if I wasn't doing audio.

I record live multitracking sessions to this hard drive, and edit on it, and it works great! Adding a thunderbolt cable to the box would get it 5 stars, it doesn't come with one. Some reviews said the fan was loud, it's not really all that loud, my MacBook Pro is louder.

This thunderbolt drive is shockingly fast. This is how I would like all computers and drives to be.
I keep checking to see if the files are copied to this drive because it happens too fast to get a status window:)
I move between 1 gig and 20 gig video and picture files around, and the time is measured in milliseconds and seconds.

Bought this drive to edit video on my macbook air and WOW it's fast. Insanely fast.
My only disappointment was to discover that it is not powered through the thunderbolt connection. You must connect to power via AC adapter. OK trade off though for such insanely fast speed of this drive.
